Services Will Be Held Mon. For Puckett
The 10 a. m. services Monday for Ens. Thomas Gene Puckett, to be held in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, will be preceded by an 8 a. m. Requiem Eucharist. The Rev. Harry Robinson, vicar of St. Paul’s Church, Will be the Celebrant for the Holy Communion and will also conduct the final rites. Ens. Puckett, who was based at Pensacola, Fla., was killed in a plane crash in Escambia County, Ala., November 19, His body was escorted to Holdenville by Ens. John M. Hood, U.S. Navy. The widow, Patricia, survives. Others survivors include one brother, Bob Trammell, one sister, Sally Trammell, and his mother, Mrs. Bob Trammell, all of DeQueen , Ark.; a step-sister, Jane Collins, Chicago, Ill.; his father, Gene Puckett of Tulsa; Maternal grandmother, Mrs. W. J. McElwee, Wetumka; Paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Puckett, one uncle, Jerold Puckett, and one aunt, Mrs..Herman Apple, all of Holdenville.
Puckett will be buried in Holdenville cemetery with Naval Military honors by personnel from the naval depot at McAlester. Active bearers will be Jerry Apple, Gary Middleton, Bill Warren, Theo Maloy, Tommy Treadwell, Bill Huser, and Roddie Stirman. Interment is under the direction of Hobgood Funeral Home. A member of the family stated that in lieu of flowers. Friends may make offerings to St. Paul’s Memorial fund in memory of Tommy Puckett. Puckett was born July 16, 1940 in Holdenville, Ok. He lived in Holdenville all his life and attended
Holdenville schools, graduating in 1958 with high honors. He was active in sports, attended Boy’s State, and
in his senior year was Oklahoma State president of Student Council and the state’s delegate that year to the
national convention in Virginia. He entered Austin College, Sherman, Texas where he was elected president of the Freshman class and lettered
in football.

SUSIE J. PETETE
Susie Jane Petete, 410 North Walnut, died at Norman Regional hospital Tuesday at the age of 67. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist church with Rev. Mack Peercy and Rev. Jim Paxton officiating. Burial will be in Holdenville cemetery, under direction of Hudson Funeral Home. She was born Sept. 14, 1921 in Sasakwa. She was reared in the Carr City community. She attended Sacred Heart school and married Horace Petete May 11, 1941 in Seminole. She had made her home in Holdenville since 1945. She was nominee for the outstanding area volunteer in 1984, a certificate of participation. She took part in the first grass roots symposium of housing for retired Americans. She was a member of the American Associations of Retired Persons, a member of the Council for Alcohol and Drug Abuse, 1988; member of the Council of the Seminole tribe of Oklahoma, 1988; Department of Human Services certificate of appreciation
from Governor George Nigh; Senior Citizen of the Year Western Week; Senior Citizens Queen; Outstanding
older Oklahoman from the COEDD Agency on Aging; Head Start service award, and attended Silver Haired
Legislature in Washington. She did volunteer work for many programs for the elderly and needy in Hughes and Seminole counties. Survivors include: her husband, Horace Petete, of the home; two daughters, Vicky and son-in-law Richard Mackey of Holdenville, and Karen Brown of Ada; two sons and daughter-in-law, Lloyd and Lillie Petete, Moore, and Leon and Vicky Petete, Ada; six grandsons; two granddaughters; seven sisters: Beulah Bemo, Wewoka; Ruby Jesse, Sasakwa; Jan McKane, Yeager; Polly Palmer of Tulsa; Amy Owings, Sasakwa; Dorothy Tiger, Konawa; Mary Lee Bender, Norman; and one brother, William Bean, Konawa. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Oncology ward of Norman Regional
hospital in memory of Susie Petete.

Noma J. went to be with the Lord January 26, 1998. She is preceded in her passing by her husband Harold E.
Petete, to whom she married on February 14, 1952. Noma is survived by 4 children, Jerry Nicks of Grapevine,
Tx., Gene Nicks, of Los Gatos, Calif., Linda Cherry, of St. Petersburg, Fl., Brenda Gardini, of Spring Valley, Calif.; 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Everyone who knew Noma loved and cherished her friendship and lively spirit. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends. She will remain in our hearts always.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Resthaven Chapel . In lieu of flowers, please donate to Hospice
of Oklahoma County.

NORMA LEE PETETE
Norma Lee Petete was born on Friday, May 20, 1930 near the Dixie Camp west of Holdenville. She was the daughter of John S. Collis and Myrtle Collis. She died Saturday, May 28, in the Presbyterian Hospital in Oklahoma City. She attended schools at Benedict, Holdenville, Indianapolis, Ind., California and graduated from Moss
School in 1948. After attending Draughon School of Business in Tulsa, she worked for the Department of Human Services for 34 years, retiring in August 1985. She married Spencer Petete August 24, 1952 in Van Buren Ark. Her mother and father died when she was very young and her aunt and uncle, Mable and Harry Etchison,
reared her and her sisters and brother.
She was a member of the Capitol Heights Missionary Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Spencer, and daughter Paula of the home; one son and daughter-in-law,
Richard and Kaye of Ada; two sisters and brother-in-law, Geraldine and G.L. Morris of Seminole; Joan and Wendell Andrews of Birmingham, Ala.; One brother and sister-in-law, J.C. and Lucille Collis of Holdenville; her aunt, Mable French, Long Town, Okla. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Capitol Heights Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. Jim Paxton officiating. Burial will be in the Holdenville cemetery, under the direction of Hudson Funeral Home.
