MRS. BERTHA E. STEWART

Mrs. Bertha Stewart, 82, died 2:50 a.m. Tuesday at Green Valley Convalescent Center where she resided. She was a retired employee of Silvercrest Hospital.

The body will be at the Seabrook Funeral Home after noon Wednesday. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Memorial Park.

CLARKSVILLE -- Mrs. Violet Irene Meyer, 87, formerly of 2642 Knob View Road, New Albany died at 5:15 p.m. Sunday at Tender Care Convelescent Center.

Survivors include her husband, Fred Meyer, and a daughter, Mrs. Mildred Hayes of Clarksville.

Mrs. Elma Etta Emery, 62, Carwood township, Blackiston Mill Road, died at 4:40 a. m. Wednesday in St. Edward's Hospital after a three year illness.

Surviving are her husband, William R. Emery; her mother, Mrs. Laura Jackson, Sellersburg; one son, Charles W. Emery, Sellersburg; four daughters, Miss Thelma Emery, Mrs. Claude Broady, Mrs. Kermit Sullivan and Mrs. Paul Woodruff, all of Jeffersonville; one brother, Claude Jackson, New Albany; two sisters, Mrs. Kelsie Brockelhurst, and Mrs. Roscoe Armstrong, both of New Albany; and eight grandchildren.

The body is at the Coots funeral home in Jeffersonville, where services will be held at 1 p. m. Friday. Services will also be held at 2 p.m. at the United Brethren church in Carwood. Burial will be in Hickory Grove cemetery near Carwood township.

ILLNESS FATAL TO OTTO JACKSON, 48

Garageman Here For Many Years Retired By Ill Health, Passes Away In Residence - Stricken Eight Months Ago.

Otto Jackson, 48, New Albany garage and automobile sales agency operator for many years before illness forced his retirement, died at 9:20 o'clock Tuesday morning at his residence, 1516 Shelby Place. He had been ill about eight months.

He was a member of DePauw Lodge of Masons; Hope Lodge, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, and of the Central Christian Church.

Survivors include the widow Mrs. Jane Jackson; two daughters Miss LeVern Jackson and Miss Millicent Jackson, and a son, Harold Jackson, all of New Albany; his mother, Mrs. Laura Jackson, Sellersburg; a brother, Claude Jackson, Borden; three sisters Mrs. Bessie Anderson, of New Albany; Mrs. Zola Brockelhurst, Sellersburg, and Mrs. Ellan Emery, Scottsburg, and one grandson.

The body will be taken to the home from the Mullineaux Funeral Home, 1217 East Spring street. Funeral arrangements have not been completed.

Bessie Armstrong

Funeral services for Bessie Rebecca Armstrong, 91, of Clarksville were held today at Dieckmann Funeral Home, with burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. She died Saturday at Westminster Healthcare Center.

She was the former Bessie Jackson, a native of Borden, a reitred seamstress for the old H.A. Seinsheimer Co., and a member of Central Christian Church, Rebecca Ruth Lodge 1 and LaBelle Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 340.

Survivors include her husband, Charles R. Armstrong; a daughter, Diana Holloway of New Amsterdam; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a great-nephew, Charles Weber, who cared for her.

Claude H. Jackson

Funeral services for Claude H. Jackson, 82, formerly of New Albany, will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday at Dieckmann Funeral Home, with burial in Hickory Grove Cemetery near Borden. He died Tuesday in Bradenton, Fla.

He was a native of Clark County and retired self-employed carpenter.

Survivors include a daughter, Dorothy Neal of Louisville; a sister, Bessie Armstrong of Clarksville; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation at the funeral home will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday and after 9 a.m. Saturday.

CORYDON -- Omar E. Woodfill, 84, died at 5:30 a.m. this morning at Floyd Memorial hospital. A former resident of New Albany, he resided at Nance's Corner.

A native of Seymour, Mr. Woodfill was a member of the Georgetown Masonic lodge and a member of the Lanesville Methodist church.

Surviving is his wife Mahala D. Gridley. The body is at the Gehlbach & Resch Funeral home here. Funeral arrangements are pending.

A native of Seymour, Mrs. King was the widow of Arthur E. King. She was a member of the Centenary Methodist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, one son, Arthur E. King, New Albany; one brother, Omer Woodfield, Floyd County; four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Miss Lena Lesmister, 31 years old, died Tuesday night at the home of her mother, Mrs. Caroline Lesmister, 1126 Olden street, following a two weeks' illness from peritonitis.

Besides her mother, she is survived by one sister, Mrs. Amanda King, of this city, and three brothers, W. B. Woodfill, Detroit; Henry Woodfill, Louisville, and Claude Woodfill, of this city. She was a member of New Albany Chapter, Order of Eastern Star.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the residence, under auspices of New Albany Chapter, O. E. S., the Rev. F. A. Meusch, paster of St. mark's Evangelical church, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery.
