CLARKSVILLE -- Thelma May Emery, 81, died yesterday at Westminster Health Care Center.
She was born in New Albany, resided in Clarksville and was a member of First Southern Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sisters, Katherine Elder, Pauline Sullivan and Jane Woodruf [sic]; and several nieces and nephews.
Services are 1 p.m. tomorrow at E. M. Coots' Sons, Inc. Funeral Home, with burial in Hickory Grove Cemetery in Borden. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. tomorrow.

Paul Reeder Woodruff Sr. 80; World War II veteran
Funeral services for Paul Reeder Woodruff Sr., 80, of Clarksville, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, at Coots Funeral Home with burial to follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery in Borden. He died Friday, Feb. 9, 2007 at his residence.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and a retired electrician with the Colgate company. He was a member of First Southern Baptist Church, Clarksville and the American Legion Post 35 in Jeffersonville. He was also a member of the Clark County Amateur Radio Club and the Colgate retirees club.
Survivors include his wife Jane Woodruff; four sons, Paul Woodruff and his wife Margie, Charlestown, Wayne Woodruff and his wife Beverly, New Albany, Robert Woodruff and his wife Valerie, Jeffersonville, Thomas Woodruff and his wife Robin, Louisville; a daughter, Debra Woodruff, Clarksville; sister, Jane White, Scottsburg; grandsons, Robert Woodruff and his wife Danelle, Phillip Woodruff and his wife Britney, Sean Naville and his wife Laurie, Shawn McLendon, Denny Benjamin; granddaughters, Robyn Perez, Paula Knoy and her husband James, Erica Deweese and her husband Shawn, Melissa Everage and her husband Rusty, Hope Craig and her husband Jeff, Megan Darby; 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Woodruff Sr. and Flora Enteman; brother, James Woodruff Jr.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 12 and after 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Mrs. Jane C. Jackson
Mrs. Jane C. Jackson, 67, died at 5:30 a.m. Sunday in Jewish Hospital, Louisville.
She lived at 1516 Shelby Place. She was a member of the Central Christian Church; La Belle Chapter, Order of Eastern Star; Ruth Rebekah Lodge and the Butler Home Demonstration Club.
Survivors are two daughter, Mrs. Millicent Proctor, Jeffersonville, and Mrs. H. Hudson Trusty, New Albany; two brothers, A. M. Faber, Orlando, Fla., and Ben Faber, New Albany, and two sisters, Mrs. Albert Turner, Vevay, and Mrs. Olin Schamel, New ALbany, and nine grandchildren and two great -grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Central Christian Church; burial in Graceland Memorial Park. The body is at Dieckmann Funeral Home.

Smith-Jackson
Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Sherman Smith, this city, announce the marriage of their daughter, Miss Isabelle Smith, to Harold H. Jackson, 1516 Shelby street, son of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Jackson, which took place April 3 in Covington, Ky. The couple will reside at 258 Cherry Street.
Harold and Isabelle were listed in the New Albany, Floyd County, Indiana City Directory for the years 1943 - 1944. They lived at 1206 Ekin Ave. and Harold's occupation was listed as "Ground man for public service company." In 1947 Isabelle was listed at the same address as the widow of Harold H. Jackson. Her occupation was listed as being employed by the C-P Company (Colgate-Palmolive Company). No entries was found for Harold in the Floyd County Death Records. Isabelle disappeared from the New Albany City Directory in 1975.
There is a photo of Harold in the New Albany High School Yearbook.

H. H. Jackson, Phone Worker, Killed By Tree
Lineman Is Struck On Ellettsville Job
Harold H. Jackson, 31, of 1206 Ekin, New Albany, Indiana Bell Telephone Company lineman, was killed by a falling tree at 9 a.m. yesterday while working at Ellettsville, Ind.
Jackson was employed temporarily with a gang clearing a right-of-way for a line in the vicinity of Ellettsville. His head was crushed by the tree. He had been employed by the telephone company approximately 18 months.
He was a member of Central Christian Church, DePauw Lodge of Masons and Hope Lodge of Odd Fellows.
Survivors, wife, Mrs. Isabelle Jackson; son, Glenn Jackson; daughters, Joan and Jean Jackson; mother, Mrs,.Jane Jackson, and sisters, Mrs. William Proctor and Mrs. Hudson Trusty, all of New Albany.
The body is at the residence pending funeral services at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Central Christian Church; burial, Graceland Memorial Park.

H. H. Jackson Killed By Falling Tree
Harold H. Jackson, 31, 1206 Ekin, lineman for the Indiana Bell Telephone company, was killed by a falling tree Thursday morning, the local telephone company was notified.
The accident happened near Ellettsville where Jackson was working with a crew clearing a right-of-way for a telephone line. Jackson was working in that vicinity while his crew here was on vacation.
Jackson had been affiliated with the telephone company for a year and a half. He was a member of the Masonic and Odd Fellows Lodges and the Central Christian church.
Survivors include wife, Mrs. Isabelle Jackson; son, Glenn; two daughters, Joan and Jean; mother, Mrs. Jane Jackson, 1516 Shelby, and two sisters, Mrs. William Procter and Mrs. Hudson Trusty, both of New Albany.
Funeral arrangements are not complete but it is expected that services will be held here Sunday.

Ruby Mae Cunningham
NEW ALBANY -- Ruby Mae Cunningham, 80, died Saturday at the Robert E. Lee Retirement Home.
She was the former Ruby Mae Beyl, a native of Clark County, a retired seamstress for the old H.A. Seinsheimer Co., the widow of Harry L. Cunningham, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Was Ladies Auxiliary Post 3281 where she was a past president and she was a Baptist.
Survivors include a brother, Jesse Beyl; a sister, Virginia Harris; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services are 10 a.m. tomorrow at the Oak Street Chapel of Seabrook, Dieckmann & Naville Funeral Home, with burial in Ebenezer Cemetery in Memphis. Visitation is 5 to 9 p.m. today.
