HARRISON, REV. STANLEY L., SR. - age 80 of 4105 Aztec Drive, Johnson City died Thursday, April 19, 2001 at his residence. Rev. Harrison was a native of Washington County and a son of the late George Newton and Parlee Adams Harrison. Rev. Harrison was a member of Holston Conference of the United Methodist Churches since 1942 and served numerous churches within the conference. Rev. Harrison attended Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church and served on the Administrative Board of the Church. He was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class. Rev. Harrison was a graduate of East Tenn. State University. He graduated from the Candler School of Theology, Emory University, Atlanta, Ga. Survivors include his wife, Helen Carter Harrison, of the home; two sons, Stanley L. Harrison, Jr., Gray, Tenn. and Philip Carter Harrison Atlanta, Ga.; one brother, Clyde D. Harrison, Gray, Tenn.; three sisters, Georgia Bond and Elloree Chestnutt, both of Johnson City and Lucille Adkins, Gray, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday April 22, 2001 at 2 p.m. from the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Henderlight, Rev. Wayne Cummings and Rev. Roby Eastridge to officiating. Graveside committal service with Dr. Paul E. Brown Sr. officiating will follow in Monte Vista Burial Park. Obituary:

KINGSPORT - Shirley Compton McClellan, 85, passed away Friday (Oct. 28, 2005) at her residence following a short illness. Mrs. McClellan was born on June 17, 1920, in Ft. Blackmore, Va., to the late Garland C. and Zola A. Crisp Compton. She was a native of Virginia, but spent most of her life in Kingsport, with two years in Kentucky, and 12 years in California, where she traveled through the West and Alaska. Mrs. McClellan was of the Baptist faith, and was a retired waitress and restaurant owner. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward McClellan; one son, Stephen Compton McClellan; four brothers, Cecil, Russell, John Henry, and David Compton, all of Dungannon, Va. Surviving are one son, Tony McClellan, of Blackwater, Va.; one stepson, Charles Edward McClellan Sr., and wife Rose, of Baltimore, Md.; eight grandchildren, Melanie Rhea, of Johnson City, Melody Blevins, of Elizabethton, Tony Lynn McClellan, of Big Stone Gap, Va., Kristen and husband Justin Qualls, of Duffield, Va., Marcus, Emily, and Kenny McClellan, of Duffield, Va., Charles E. McClellan Jr., of Baltimore, Md.; one great-grandchild, Brandon Rhea; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Nell Castle, of Kingsport, Bell and husband Demp Morelock, of Fall Branch, Daisy Green, of Washington, Ga.; one half sister, Gladys Sexton, of Blountville; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Robert F. and wife Charles Compton, of Kingsport, Sevier Compton, of Sullivan Gardens, Lucky Gene Compton and wife Liz, of Bristol, Va.; several nieces and nephews. The family received friends in the East Lawn Funeral Home Chapel, or any other time at Mrs. McClellan's home. Services were held in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Tony Gonzalez officiating. Graveside service were held Monday at 1 p.m. in the East Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be family and friends. The family would like to say a special thanks to all of Mrs. McClellan's caregivers, and hospice staff.



She was buried in 2005 in East Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Kingsport, Sullivan Co., VA, Find A Grave Memorial# 19729040.
