Mrs. Mildred Reeves "Mammy" King, 91, 711 Sunset Drive, died Sunday, May 6, 2001, at Johnson City Medical Center.
Mrs. King was a lifelong resident of Washington County and a daughter of the late James M. Reeves Jr. and Ola Bertha Boyd Reeves.
She was a member of Central Baptist Church, where she served 36 years in Sunday school, the nursery and the day-care center.
Mrs. King was a former member of Snow's Chapel Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Edward "Pappy" King, in 1977; and by twin son and daughter, Jimmy Reeves King and Nancy Elizabeth Penesk.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Ann King Taylor, of the home; one sister, Elsie Reeves Sell, Johnson City; two granddaughters, Ann Arwood, Mebane, N.C., and Wendy Elizabeth Penesk, Pensacola, Fla.; five great-grandchildren, Roger Miller II, Scott Taylor and Luke Willis, all of Johnson City, and Chris Arwood and Leslee Arwood, both of Mebane; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mildred Reeves "Mammy" King, 91, 711 Sunset Drive, who died Sunday, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday in Central Baptist Church. The Rev. R. Willard Warfield and Dr. Ronald E. Murray will officiate. Family and friends will meet in Monte Vista Burial Park at 11 a.m. Friday for the graveside service. Pallbearers will be grandsons and Phillip Dickerson, Joe Hartley and Bill Sell. Pallbearers are requested to meet at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the cemetery. The body will be placed in the church Thursday afternoon where the family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. prior to the service.
Mrs. King was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Janice Taylor Willis. She is also survived by two great-great-grandchildren, Jacob Cameron Miller and Ashley Rebecca Lynn Miller, both of Johnson City; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Ruth King Hartley, Johnson City; and several nieces and nephews. MURFREESBORO -- Mrs. Elsie Reeves Sell, 89, McMinnville, formerly of 609 Sunset Drive, Johnson City, died Wednesday, May 14, 2003, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. Mrs. Sell had lived in Johnson City until moving to McMinnville six months ago to live with her daughter. She was the daughter of the late James and Ola Boyd Reeves.
Mrs. Sell was a homemaker.
She was a member of Snow Memorial Baptist Church, Johnson City, where she was active in the children's department.
Mrs. Sell was preceded in death by her husband, William E. "Bill" Sell in 1987; one son, John R. Sell; and one sister, Mildred King.

Mrs. Elsie Reeves Sell, a faithful wife of 47 years, loving mother, grandmother and sister went to be with her Lord Wednesday, May 14, 2003. Her homegoing celebration will be 8:00 p.m. Friday, May 16 in Snow Memorial Baptist Church. Dr. Ted Williams will officiate assisted by Rev. Albert Bentley. The family will receive friends at the church from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday. The committal service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the Monte Vista Memorial Park, where friends are invited to meet the family for this service. Serving as pallbearers will be family members and friends.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sell was preceded in death by her husband, William E. "Bill" Sell, in 1987, a son, John R. Sell, in 1990 and her sister, Mildred King. She is survived by one son, William G. "Bill" Sell, Kingsport; one daughter, Patty Bradberry and her husband, Jerry Bradberry, McMinnville; one daughter-in-law, Earlene Sell Scott, Kingsport; two granddaughters, Tonya McMurray, Kingsport, and Sherry Strickland, Birmingham, Alabama; three great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Hazel Cross Reeves Mankamyer, 77, 2112 Sherwood Drive, died Saturday evening at Appalachian Christian Village after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Mankamyer was a native of Chicago, Ill., and a daughter of the late Benjamin F. and Hester Mottern Cross. She had spent most of her life in Johnson City.
Mrs. Mankamyer was a member of the Harrison Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, William H. Reeves, in 1962, and by her second husband, O. L. Mankamyer, in 1984.
Survivors include two sons, Billy B. Reeves, New Hill, N.C., and Douglas H. Reeves, Columbus, Ohio; three sisters: Stella Evans, Akron, Ohio, Verna McKinney, Johnson City, and Gladys Montgomery, Kingsport; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Hartman is in charge.
Note (Tracy DeVault): Hazel's obituary says she was a native of Chicago, Illinois. Her parents were from East Tennessee, she appears to have been born in Tennessee and I can find no evidence that she ever lived in Chicago.

Funeral services for Mrs. Hazel Cross Reeves Mankamyer, age 77, 2112 Sherwood Dr. who died Saturday evening will be held at 1 P.M. Mrs. Sue Barnes and Mrs. Vernie Strickland will be in charge of the music. The family requests that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Research Fund in care of V. C. McKinney, 1167 Sunset Dr., Johnson City. The body remains in the chapel where the family will be Monday evening from 7 to 9 P.M. and will be taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service to lie in state. Hartman Funeral Home, 800 E. SUMMERVILLE -- Funeral services for Mrs. Hellen Haws Hardin were held today at Bethany Methodist Church, with burial in Live Oak Cemetery, Walterboro.
Mrs. Hardin, 64, wife of William Lawrence Hardin, died Wednesday at a Charleston hospital.
Born in Walterboro, she was a daughter of Samuel N. and Kathleen Reeves Haws. She was an administrative assistant at Baptist College, Charleston.
Surviving are her husband; a son, Lawrence G. Hardin of Columbia; two daughters, Mrs. Thomas W. Harwood of Florence and Mrs. W. N. McDowell Jr. of Columbia; three sisters, Mrs. W. Perry Murphy, Mrs. Ted C. Hodges and Mrs. Mary C. Stone of Walterboro, and two granddaughters.
Memorials may be made to the new dormitory fund at Baptist College.

Emily Mahan Faust, (Mrs. Hugh D. Faust, Jr.), age 96, died peacefully at her home on Thursday, February 11, 2010, surrounded by her loving family and precious caretakers. Emily was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Hugh D. Faust, Jr. and her sister Cynthia Ford Kerr. She is survived by her children: Hugh D. Faust, and wife Kathy Yett, Edgar M. Faust and wife Lynn Frierson Faust, Cynthia Faust Foster and husband Lewis C. Foster, Jr. Grandchildren: Emily Faust Wheeler and husband Wayne Wheeler, Christin Foster Myers and husband Dr. Beau Myers, Luke Foster, Caroline Foster, Will Faust and wife Melissa, Hugh Davidson Faust and Ted Mahan Faust; great-grandchildren: Hugh, David and Seth Wheeler and Chilton Myers. The family wishes to thank Emilyfs loving caretakers Willie Eaton, Dawn Dixson, Diane McCallie, Joan Snead, Audria McFarland, Linda Wallace and Ann Mostella.
Emily grew up in Knoxville, the daughter of Edgar C. Mahan and Emily Miller Mahan, first on Washington Ave., then on Lyons View Pike. She began school in a one room school house where Lonas Firehall now stands, graduated from Knoxville High School, attended Gulf Park College and the University of Tennessee, then followed her dream to the New York School of Theatre at Carnegie Hall, New York City. In 1937 she opened her own drama studio, The Emily Mahan School of Drama; her students included actress Patricia Neal, opera singer Mary Costa and actress/teacher Carol Mayo Jenkins. Emily, with her lifelong love of theatre, was instrumental in the founding of the Carousel and Clarence Brown Theatres of UT and served as a founding and lifetime member of the Opening Night Club Board for the University's theatre program. The Emily Mahan Faust Fellowship, which continues to be given annually to promising young graduate level theatre students at UT, was first established as a birthday present in her honor by her husband Hugh. In 1938, Emily married Hugh D. Faust, Jr. who was a University of Tennessee assistant football coach under General Robert Neyland. They raised 3 children, Hugh, Edgar and Cynthia, during their 60 years of marriage.
Emily was a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church of Knoxville actively involved in all areas of her church life. She loved the University of Tennessee and remained actively involved in several UT departments, in her sorority AOĨ and attended sporting events into her 90s. She was an original member of the Board of Visitors at the College of Liberal Arts. Among her many community activities, Emily helped establish the Patricia Neal Rehabilitation Center and the Rooftop Therapy Garden, the Baptist Hospital Auxiliary as well as participating on numerous boards and volunteer activities. She loved her family, her church, the University of Tennessee, the theatre and the family cabin at Elkmont. In short, Emily simply loved life. Among her many lifetime achievements, Emily was the first recipient (with husband Hugh) of UTfs Volunteer of the Year Award, The First Lady of Knoxville, the AOĨ International Rose Award and AOĨ Community Service Award, The Junior League Award for Outstanding Sustainer, YWCA Tribute to Women in the Arts Division and most recently, the Patricia Neal Rehabilitation Centerfs Community Caring Award.
