GROCERY STORE BURNED
Adjoining Property Damaged By Fire In Biddle Street.
A fire broke out a few minutes before 11 o'clock last night at Joseph Woodson's grocery store, 627 Biddle street, destroying almost the entire stock of goods, valued at between $1,500 and $2,000; damaging the building, owned by Mr. Charles J. Voniff, to the extent of $300; causing a damage of $100 to Mr. Frederick Willcox's baker shop, 629 West Biddle street, and damaging the private dwelling of Mr. Richard D. Maynard, 625 West Biddle street to the extent of $50. Mr. Willcox's loss was covered by insurance. One of his large plate-glass windows was broken by the heat from the adjoining building. Six hundred loaves of bread were in the oven when the fire broke out and narrowly escaped being burned for want of attention.
Mr. Woodson's store was locked when the fire started and he was away. Some of his goods was saved, but the greater portion destroyed. The origin of the fire could not be learned.
No. 4 Hook-and-Ladder and Engine Companies 7, 8, and 13 responded to the alarm, which was turned in by James T. McGinnis from the box at Greenwillow street and Pennsylvania avenue. Round Sergeant Louis Hahn and Sergeant Henry Wicks were in charge at the fire.

FREDERICK WILLCOX ARRESTED
Charged With The larceny Of A Bake Oven And Boiler.
Frederick Willcox, 920 Pennsylvania avenue, proprietor of the Baltimore Standard Bakery, was arrested by Sergt. James F. Brown, of the Northwestern Police Station, yesterday, charged with the larceny of one bake oven, one boiler and fire bricks, valued at $500, the property of William C. Smith (administrator), 606 Reservoir street. Mr. Willcox was released for a hearing this morning. The wife of Mr. Willcox, who died about two months ago, is said to have left a will, and Mr. William C. Smith is supposed to be the administrator of her property.
Mr. Willcox made the following statement:
"I have a deed for this house and store in my name. My wife, who died about 7 weeks ago, left a will, but she had absolutely nothing that I know of. The property was in our joint names. When she died the property reverted to me. There is a mortgage of about $2,000 on the house. The fixtures belong to me and are insured in my name. I do not know what Smith is administrator of, as when I married my wife she had not a dollar. I do not know Smith, and do not know why the charge is preferred against me."

Case Against Mr. Willcox Dismissed
The case against Frederick Willcox, 920 Pennsylvania avenue, charged by Mr. William C. Smith with the larceny of a bake oven, door and boiler and fire brick valued at $500, has been dismissed.
Justice Goldman decided that the evidence showed no intent of larceny, as Mr. Willcox supposed the property was his own. He also suggested that the case should be settled in a court of equity.

Seeks to Restrain Baker Willcox.
An injunction re3training Frederick Willcox from engaging in the bakery business in the territory east of the west side of Charles street and south of the north side of Baltimore street, is asking a bill of complaint filed in the Circuit court yesterday by the Elkridge manufacturing Company of Baltimore, through Chas. S. Hayden, attorney.
The bill of complaint states that on October 11, 1897, John Reises purchased from Mr. Willcox the bakery business at 821 Greenount avenue, Mr. Willcox agreeing not to engage in the business within the territory named. It is alleged the agreement has not been kept.
Judge Stockbridge ordered a preliminary injunction to be issued on the filing of a bond for $2,500.
