Kenneth Wayne McCollom, 76, of Waterloo, died Saturday, Nov. 25 at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home following a massive stroke.
He was born April 18, 1941 in Jefferson, Iowa, son of Bruce and Ethel McCormick McCollom. He married Kay Purdy and later divorced. He married Pearl Posusta.
Ken graduated from Grand Junction High School. He served as a Sergeant 5th Class in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the 133rd Grand Duty Track Vehicle Mechanics and Track Vehicle Mechanic. While serving in Banburg, Germany, he drove an M-88 tank.
He was employed at Witham Auto Center and Tuffy Auto Service for 38 years.
Survived by: his wife; his children, Tim (Samantha) McCollom; Amy (Chris) Reynolds, Tom (Doreen Morris) Posusta and Rochelle (Joel) Peters; five grandchildren, Kassidy, Alec, Alyssa, Jake and Sadie; a great-granddaughter, Austyn; five step-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Larry (Mary) McCollom of Waterloo; one sister, WeEtta Correy of Fullerton, Calif; a brother-in-law, Bill Brindley of Logan, Utah; a sister-in-law, Julie McCollom of Jefferson, Iowa.
Preceded in death by: two children, Denton and Melissa; three brothers, Art, Jack and Robert; four sisters, Gladys, Vivian, Irene and Lois; and several nephews and a niece.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28 at Kimball Avenue United Methodist Church with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery where full military rites will be conducted by the Cedar Falls Amvets and the Iowa Army Honor Guard. Public visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway and continue for one hour before services at the church on Tuesday.
Memorials: Cedar Valley Hospice Home or Kimball Avenue Methodist Church.
Ken enjoyed his grandchildren, gardening, woodworking, Ford cars and helping his friends and neighbors.

Irene Lawless was born April 20, 1919 in Grand Junction, Iowa: the daughter of Bruce and Ethel ( McCormick) McCollom.
She was married to John Eckstein on October 3, 1940; he preceded her in death on August 22, 1943. Irene then married Peter James Lawless on April 5, 1944; he preceded her in death June 18, 1973.
She worked at Morg’s for years and The Diamond, Mercedes and C&H Café.
Irene enjoyed flowers, dancing, music and her family.
Irene passed away on Monday, June 13, 2016 at the Shell Rock Healthcare Center at the age of 97.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands; a son-in-law James A. Milroy three brothers: Arthur, Robert, and John “Jack” McCollom and two sisters: Gladys Baker and Vivian Brindley.
Irene is survived by two daughters: Christy Milroy of Omaha, Nebraska and Pamela (Toby) McClellan of Hudson; a son Stephen Lawless of Shell Rock; seven grandchildren; eight great-grand children; two brothers: Larry (Mary) McCollom of Waterloo and Kennth (Pearl) McCollom of Waterloo; two sisters: WeEtta Correy of Fullerton, California and Lois Watters of Westminster, Colorado.
