John Immroth, Pitt Professor, Dies

John P. Immroth, assistant professor of library science at the University of Pittsburgh, died Friday in Scranton.

Mr. Immroth, 39, lived at 513 Rosslyn Place, Shadyside.

He had been on the faculty at Pitt since 1968, and had taught at the University of Colorado and at State University College in Geneseo, N.Y.

A graduate of the University of Colorado, Mr. Immroth received his master's degree there in 1965, and a doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh in 1970.

He was a member of the American and Pennsylvania Library associations and edited several papers in both groups. He was auther of "A Guide to Library of Congress Classification."

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Barbara Froling Immroth, and two sons, Christopher and Andrew.

Friends will be received at the Church of the Redeemer, Forbes Avenue, Oakland where services will be at 12:30 p.m. today.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by H. Samson Inc., 537 N. Neville Ave.

Burial will be private.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Rector's Fund of the Church of the Redeemer.

He was buried in April 1976 in All Souls Walk at Saint Johns Cathedral, Denver, Denver Co., CO, Findagrave #183015991.
