Jewel Waldene Bohannon Stephens, 88, of Wichita Falls, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, October 16, 2009, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's.

The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at City View Baptist Church with Rev. Stuart Wright, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls.

Jewel was born on March 6, 1921 in Kirkland, Texas to the late Joe D. and Carrie Lee (Dixon) Bohannon. On January 4, 1941, she married Clyde Durwood Stephens. He preceded her in death in 1998. She was a member of City View Baptist Church where she was treasurer of the Joy Class for over 30 years. Jewel had a great faith in God that was shown throughout her life. Always happy and loving, she always had a kind word to say about everyone. She was a homemaker, and enjoyed gardening. She was also preceded in death by her son, Clyde Wayne Stephens and three brothers, J. L. Bohannon, Jack Bohannon and Floyd Bohannon.

She is survived by her four children, Marla Jean Westerfield and husband Russell of Wichita Falls, Sandra Kay Jansen and husband Steven of North Bend, Oregon, Johnny Ray Stephens, and Judy Spalti and husband Rodney all of Wichita Falls; nine grandchildren, David, Lisa, Amy, Bradley, Sam, Shelly, Jason, Justin, and Alisha; seven great-grandchildren, Macey, Andrew, Lindsay, Cassidy, Cooper, Jewel, and Jason and her loving dog, Kathy.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, October 19, 2009 at Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls.

She was buried in October 2009 in Crestview Memorial Park, Wichita Falls, Wichita Co., TX, Findagrave #184320548.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Maxine; and sister, Sally Jo.
