MARK ROSS DOTTERER 2/22/1961 - 10/12/2003 one of the 12 original athletes for Special Olympics in the Fremont area, starting at age 10. Mark participated in floor hockey, basketball, softball, bowling, track and field, skiing, swimming and volleyball as part of the Tri-City Roadrunners for 32 years. Mark's favorite sport was floor hockey, especially because his team traveled to San Diego each year in a Special Olympics tournament. Mark also went to UCLA approximately six times and more recently to Stockton to participate in the Special Olympics Summer Games. Because of Mark's outgoing personality, he was invited to become a "Global Messenger" for the Special Olympics; going to different functions to talk about his experience as an athlete in Special Olympics to draw attention to the needs of the athletes. Mark attended Fremont Elementary from age 8 to 12. Next he attended Horner Junior High School and then went on to Irvington High School, where he graduated in 1981. Mark was extremely involved in many activities at Irvington. He participated on the cross-country team and was manager of several girls' sports teams. He was especially proud of receiving his "Block I" Letter for participating in these sports teams. "High School was a wonderful experience for Mark. He went to his junior prom and his senior ball and was treated like he was the king at all of his class reunions," said his mother Pat Dotterer" After graduation, Mark worked for ARC for 10 years. His favorite job was his most recent one, working on the line at Auto Desk in Fremont. Mark worked there for the past 8 years. He is survived by his loving parents, Charles and Pat of Fremont, CA, His brother Charles Dotterer, Jr. of San Jose, CA, Sister and brother-in-law: Laura and John Morrison of Fremont, CA, and many nieces; Amanda Morrison of Fremont, CA, Janea and Tiffany Dotterer of San Jose, CA, Elisha Dotterer of Medford, CA. And some special family to Mark; Robert, Judy, Neal and Miranda Fernandez of Martinez, CA. A memorial Service to celebrate Mark's life will be held at 11 A.M. on Saturday, October 18, 2003 at Newark Community Church, 37590 Sycamore St., Newark, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent in Mark's memory to the Alameda County Special Olympics, 7700 Edgewater Dr. Suite 306, Oakland, CA 94621 or to the Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation, 4901 Main St. Suite 200, Kansas City, Mo 64112. Charles Edward Dotterer Jr. passed away in Sprague River Oregon on Thursday, August 16, 2007. He was 49. Charles was born December 16, 1957 in Oakland California the first of three children to Patsy (Mortland) and Charles Dotterer Sr. He grew up Freemont California. Following high school, Charles enlisted in the Army where he served honorably. He moved to San Jose California in 1996 he worked as a sausage maker for over 20 years, working for Silva Sausage, Harris Ranch and Lucky's. In 2005 Charles moved to Klamath Falls Oregon, then four months ago he moved to Sprague River Oregon. Charles enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing golf and traveling, especially to Newport Oregon to go fishing. Most of all, though Charles loved his family. Survivors include his three daughters Janea Dotterer of Myrtle Creek OR, Elisha and Tiffany Dotterer of Sprague River OR. Sister and brother in law Laura and John Morrison of Fremont CA, niece Amanda Morrison of Fremont, CA. Best friend Frank Gosen of Union City, CA, and numerous other friends and family members. He was preceded in death by his parents and Brother Mark Dotterer. Eternal Hills Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Last rites for Ira D. Wendell, 67, of 711 Brown street, who hanged himself Saturday morning at his home, will be held at 12:30 o'clock this afternoon at the Keck funderal home with Rev. W. T. Acord of Batesville in charge.
Police said Wendell tied one end of a clothesline to a bed and the other around his neck and then leaped from a second story window of his home. According to members of his family, he had been in ill health for some time. A neighbor, Frank Linn, discovered the body and called police.
Wendell was a native of Batesville, Noble county, but had lived at Zanesville 47 years. He was a member of the Methodist church.
A retired carpenter, he formerly was employed by the B. & O. railroad, the Hocking Valley railroad and the A. E. Tile company, retiring eight years ago.
Surviving are his widow, Mable, desk clerk at the Clarendon hotel; two sons, Donald of the home and Willliam of Cleveland; a daughter, Mrs. Edith Gabb (sic) of West Palm Beach, Fla., and a brother, O. W. Wendell of Blue avenue.
He was buried in Batesville, Noble Co., OH.
