Obituary -- (Findagrave.com):
Margaret Irene Miller, was born near Whittier, California on December 30, 1924 to Jesse Guy and Hazel (Killingsworth) Kinzie. She passed away peacefully April 7, 2010, in the home of her daughter, at the age of 85 years, 3 months, and 8 days.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and was baptized, becoming a part of the Old German Baptist Brethren Church on August 30, 1942. Mother enjoyed many years of sweet fellowship with brethren and sisters in the Lord, aligning herself with the New Conference in 2009.
Her childhood was spent near Sawyer, Kansas, and we have often been blessed with the stories of her young years. Her experiences with poverty, and without plumbing and electricity, gave her a sense of frugality, and greatly affected her judgment, and teaching to her children.
On May 2, 1943, she was united in marriage to Harold E. Miller, and to this union were born 5 children. They lived in the Beech Grove District, near Pendleton, Indiana for 14 years. On Feb. 1, 1958 they moved to Modesto, CA, and lived in the Tuolumne District. Daddy and Mother were called to the ministry on April 24, 1959. Together they enjoyed many years of ministering to the Church, and traveling often to lovefeasts and Annual Meetings, and she was a faithful companion in these labors.
As we children look back over the years, we have been made to thank God often for the example that she was to each of us. Mother's hospitality to all, her devotion to her husband, commitment to God and His church, and determination to pass these things on to her children, have left their marks upon our memories and upon our lives. As we would behold her loyalty where she worshipped, and yet see that she felt a kinship with other believers wherever she went, we beheld a balance in her spiritual life that was dedicated to the principles of God primarily, and this blessed us as we looked on.
Mother's health began to decline in June of 2009, and she discovered that she had a malignant mass on her liver. She seemed to be very resigned to the will of the Lord, and we heard her say often that she just wanted what God thought was best for her life. Many times, after she was aware of her illness, she expressed her thankfulness for all that God had done for her, and that her life had been so filled with blessing.
She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 60 years, on March 21, 2003; a grandson, Peter Grover, and a brother-in-law Stanley Filbrun.
She is survived by her five children; Lorraine and Mark Grover of Modesto, California, Marletta and Ted Oldfather of North Manchester, Indiana, Byron and Bonnie Miller of Waterford, California, Lowell and Rochelle Miller of New Paris, Ohio, and Gary and Patty Miller of Ellensburg, Washington; 21 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, 3 sisters: Wilma Filbrun, Gladys and David Metzger, both of Modesto, California, and Della and Wayne Knaus of Garnett, Kansas.
Visitation will be 4 to 8pm on Monday, April 12 at the residence of Mark Grover, 2829 Kiernan Ave, Modesto.
Memorial services will be held at 10am on Tuesday, April 13 at the Old German Baptist Brethren Church at 2866 West Rumble Rd, Modesto.
Burial will be at Wood Colony Cemetery on Dakota Ave., Salida.
