Frank Wood, 62, Big Four crossing watchman at Council street, died at 3:10 yesterday at the family home, 334 Kilgore avenue. He had been in failing health for several years and his condition became serious ten days ago. He was born in Middletown, Ind. and came to Muncie twenty years ago from Selma. He is survived by his widow, Etta; two sons, Ray and Homer, both of Muncie; three daughters, Mrs. Hazel Davis, of Muncie; Mrs. Maude Neff, of Anderson; Mrs. Eva Bair, of New Kirk (sic) Okla.; seven grandchildren and one brother, Charles Wood, of Middletown. Funeral arrangements have not been made.

Violet "Vi" Marie Bair, 87, went to rest with the Lord on Monday, November 29, 2004. Violet Mari Grossardt was born December 19, 1916 to Joseph (sic) and Katherine Cerny Grossardt in Claflin, Kansas. Vi graduated from the University of Kansas with degrees in French and English, and was a member of Chi Omega sorority. She married Howard V. Bair on December 31, 1941, and after Howard's graduation from medical school and service as an Army medical officer in Germany during WW II they lived in Ukiah, California. They returned home to Parsons, Kansas in 1951 where Vi and Howard raised four children; Jeff, Jane, Julie, and Jack. Vi was especially fond of the mountains and spent summers with her family in Green Mountain Falls, Colorado. Vi and Howard moved to Colorado Springs in 1978 and enjoyed several years of retirement in the mountains. Vi came to Oklahoma City in 1995 to be closer to her family . She was a loving mother and grandmother and enjoyed bridge, playing the piano, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Ernest J. Grossardt, cherished daughter Jane K. Pierce, and beloved husband, Howard V. Bair, M.D. She is survived by a sister, Rose K. Smith; sons Dr. Jeffrey H. Bair, wife Karen and their daughter Kendra; Jack M. Bair, M.d., wife Debra and their daughters Hailey and Chandler; daughter Julie, husband Kenneth Novich, M.D., their children Jennifer and Andrew; and son-in-law Robert L. Carol J. Dohner, age 94 of Pennsville died Wednesday August 30, 2006 at the Cooper Medical Center, Camden. Born in Elizabethville, PA, he was the son of the late Alvin and Nora Fisher Dohner. He was a longtime Pennsville resident, commonly seen walking north Pennsville dressed in DuPont style attire. He was an avid ham radio operator for 70 years (W2FHY), and longtime member Salem County Archeological Society, and a 60 year member of the Trinity United Methodist Church.

He was employed as a lab technician for the DuPont Chambers Works where he retired in 1974 following over 30 years service.

He is survived by his sons; Fred J. Dohner of Mannington and Alan C. Dohner of Pennsville, 5 grandchildren.

Predeceased by his wife of 50 years; Carolyn Metcalf Dohner (1994).

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday Aug. 2 at the Trinity United Methodist, Pennsville where friends may call 10:00 to 11:00. Burial will follow at the Lawnside Cemetery, Woodstown.

In lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions to the Trinity UM Church Memorial Fund, Broadway & Church St. Pennsville, NJ 08070.

Nettie Phillips Metcalf, 86, of Moncks Corner, retired Postal Contractor with the Moncks Corner Post Office, widow of Arthur Metcalf, passed away Friday, April 14, 2017.

Nettie was born July 26, 1930, in Berkeley County, a daughter of William P. Phillips and Violet Dennis Phillips.

A member of Cordesville Baptist Church, Mrs. Nettie and Mr. Arthur had been foster parents and had also opened their home to foreign exchange students.

Surviving are three daughters- Jane Lynch and her husband, Robert, of Moncks Corner; Joyce Morris Matthews of Bonneau; Bea Williams of Knoxville, Tn.; two sons- Mark Mitchum and his wife, Toni, of Swansea; Marvin Lee of Florida; 13 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.

She was buried in April 2017 in Cordesville First Baptist Church Cemetery, Cordesville, Berkeley Co., SC, Findagrave #178397914.
