GASTONIA, N.C. - The funeral for Mr. Everette Rhyne Huffstetler of 3627 Sherwood Circle, Gastonia, and the father of S.C. State Senator Linda H. Short of Chester, was conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, from Armstrong Memorial Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Richard Harrod officiating. Interment was made in Gaston Memorial Park with McLean & Son Funeral Home of Gastonia in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Huffstetler, 71, died Saturday, July 20, 1996, at Gaston Memorial Hospital, Gastonia.

A native of Gastonia, he was a son of the late Mr. Haskell Hill Huffstetler and the late Mrs. Rettie Herndon Huffstetler. He was the widower of Mrs. Violet Kuykendall Huffstetler.

Mr. Huffstetler, a graduate of Gastonia High School, was president of Huff Machine Company and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served with the 88th Infantry. He was a member of the Gaston Country Club.

Mr. Huffstetler was also a life-long member of Armstrong Memorial Presbyterian Church, where he served as a former Deacon, and was a Mason and member of the Oasis Temple.

He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Vickie H. Goude of Holden Beach, N.C., Mrs. Linda H. Short of Chester, S.C., and Mrs. Terri H. Cogdill of Gastonia; a son, Douglas Rhyne Huffstetler of Gastonia; a sister, Mrs. Jennie H. Davidson of Gastonia; a brother. Forest Haskell Huffstetler of Bonsal, CA; eight grandchildren, Dawn Cline, Frank Goude, Michelle Bowman, Lindy Short, Melanie Short, Chad Huffstetler, Wes Huffstetler, and Christian (sic) Ferreby; and five great-grandchildren.



He was buried in July 1996 in Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia, Gaston Co., NC, Findagrave #45713748.
Everette Rhyne Huffstetler began military service WW II service, U.S. Army, 88th Infantry.
