Death Claims Former Galion School Teacher

Galion -- A former teacher in the North and West elementary schools in Galion, Mrs. Mary Wagner, died Dec. 21 in Tulsa, Okla., where she had been living with her daughter and son in-law, Mr. and Mrs. James J. Tompkins.

She was a teacher here for many years, leaving here about 15 years ago. She lived in Florida for about five years before going to Oaklahoma (sic).

Born in Galion Aug. 4, 1887, Mrs. Wagner attended school in Mansfield and Galion and was graduated from Ashland College. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Thompkins (sic), who is the former Jane Wagner, and Mrs. George M. Sidenberg II of Ewa, Oahu, Hawaii; one son, C. Richard Wagner of Amarillo, Tex.; four brothers; two sisters; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday in the Memorial Park Chapel in Tulsa.

Mrs. Luella I. Meyer, 73, widow of William Smith Meyer, died early today at the family home, Reed Street. She had been ill for the past few weeks.

Born in Mount Sterling, KY, May 17, 1864, she came to Mansfield 45 years ago and had lived here since.

Surviving are five sons, Elbert (Albert) M., Louis S. and S. Ellis, all of Mansfield, Howard K. of Pavonia, and Edwin C. Meyer of Washington, DC; three daughters, Mary M. Wagner of Galion, Mrs. Joseph Venture of Cincinnati, and Mrs. George Kolled, of Lakewood; one sister, Mrs. N. W. Schetter of Lakewood; thirteen grand-children.

Funeral services will be held Friday at the Finefrock Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mansfield Cemetery.

Funeral services for Lt. Comdr. Eugene P. O'Brien will be held at the Corry Field Chapel at 9 a.m. Friday. The Rev. Timothy J. McGrath will conduct the last rites. Burial will be at the Barrancas National Cemetery with full military honors.

O'Brien was killed Tuesday morning in an aircraft accident.
