Obituary – Arizona Republic, Wednesday, 13 JUN 2018, page C11 (Newspapers.com):
Vicki Sue Landis
Vicki Sue Landis went to her home in Heaven on June 9th, 2018, following a courageous battle with Stage 4 Breast Cancer. She passed peacefully in the Hospice of the Valley Eckstein Center in Scottsdale, AZ. Vicki had been surrounded and cared for by her loved ones for many weeks prior to her passing. During her final days, she was made comfortable and loved upon with her family, friends and her sharing stories and whispering heartfelt goodbyes to her.
Vicki was born on May 23, 1961 in Canton, Ohio and moved to Phoenix when she was 7 years of age. In her early childhood she attended Papago Elementary School and she loved camping with her family and friends, fishing, hunting and horseback riding with her Dad and spending time with all her friends. Growing up, she was very active with track, riding her three-wheeler, boating, snow skiing and spending time at the beach in Southern California when she could. Her Freshman year of high school was spent at East High and then she transferred to and graduated from Camelback High School in the79. During her Senior year she attended the Cosmetology Course at Phoenix Union Vocational Center. She worked at the law firm of Mariscal, Weeks, McIntyre and Friedlander (now Dickinson Wright) for 37 years. She held the positions of office runner, accounting/billing clerk, and most lately receptionist. She was the face of the law firm and loved working there. She loved spending time with her family, friends and her two children who meant the world to her.
Vicki will be remembered for so many things. She was a kind, loving, thoughtful, giving person and was even more beautiful inside than out. She always had a sunny and cheerful disposition reflected in the beautiful flowers and landscaping she enjoyed growing and manicuring. Vicki showed love and respect to everyone from her childhood through adulthood. She had many lifelong friends whom she stayed in touch with over the years. Even with an increasingly bothersome illness, she never complained about anything. She did not want to burden her loved ones with the sadness of her illness and likely passing, but wanted them to focus on the vibrancy of her life. She retained her joyful and positive spirit until the end.
Vicki is survived by her son, Nicolas; her daughter, Ashley Jensen; her step-son, Jason Jensen; her parents, Paul and Dorothy Landis; and her brother and his wife, Audie and Tamye Landis. She leaves behind good friends Jenny VanDenBurg, Lori Mandell, Avery Aragaki, Joe Mayo, Tracey (Tompkins) Bonnecarre and Mary (Barron) Ackman and too many others to mention, but who will never forget the friendships they shared. She will be deeply missed by her family and the many other people she touched in her life. But, she will live on in our hearts and through the many happy, joyful memories she left with us all.
Vicki’s family would be honored if you joined them by attending her funeral and celebration of Vicki’s life to be held at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix, AZ 85018 on Saturday, June 16th, 2018 at 1:30 P.M. A reception will be immediately following at the law firm of Dickinson Wright, 1850 N. Central Avenue #1400, Phoenix, AZ 85004. Obituary -- (Findagrave.com):
Mahoning Dispatch, Canfield, Mahoning Co. OH, Fri, 11 Nov 1892
“Washingtonville - Jno. B. Stoffer, born in Franklin, Co. Pa., died here Nov. 9, aged 80 years. One by one the old landmarks pass away. Mr. Stoffer was one of Washingtonville’s oldest citizens, having lived here over a half a century. He was married to Miss Fitzpatrick, by whom he had two children, Jas. R. Stoffer, who is prominent merchant and politician, and Mrs. Morgan, who lives near Leetonia. Grandfather Stoffer was always identified with every good movement for the benefit of the village and community. He was an exemplary man in all respects, the “noblest work of God,” an honest man. I can remember him now as he used to pass among his fellow men, his grey hair a crowning glory, his pleasant smile encouraging others in the rugged path of life, his erect figure and graceful carriage (remarkably so for one of his years). No evil habit had left its stamp upon his brow. “Life’s fitful fever o’er, he sleeps well.” We crown him with the plaudit, “Well done thou good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of thy Lord.”
“Home and Country News - Josiah Rohbaugh has been appointed executor of the estate of John B. Stoffer, last of Washingtonville, deceased.”.
