HOWARD M. LYONS

Howard M. Lyons, 67, of Cambridge Rt. 2 died Tuesday at Bethesda Hospital after a long illness.

He was born March 24, 1910 in Guernsey County.

Surviving are his widow, Mary V. Watson; three daughters, Mrs. Peggy J. Justice of Cambridge, Mrs. Mary King of Senecaville, and Mrs. Martha K. Seppler of Hawthorne, Calif.; a son, James H. at home; a brother, James A. of New Philadelphia; three stepchildren, Patricia Larrison of Byesville, John R. Gordon of Columbus and Ted L. Gordon of Ft. Mrs. Goldie Landis

COSHOCTON – Mrs. Goldie Landis, 70, of RD 3 died Monday afternoon in Coshocton County Memorial Hospital following a long illness.

Born at Cambridge, a daughter of the late J.E. and Lillie Drubbs (sic) Wendell, she attended the Church of God of Prophecy in Canton. She was married in 1917 to Willard Landis, who survives.

Others surviving are 6 sons, Neilan of Newcomerstown, Donald and Ernest of West Lafayette, Paul of North Canton, Wendell of Wilmot and Loren of Pinesville (sic), Oreg. ; 2 daughters, Mrs. Mildred Register of Canton and Mrs. Dorothy Izey of Phoenix, Ariz.; 2 brothers, Raymond of Canton and Ralph of Carrollton; a sister, Mrs. Roland Hein of Carrollton; 31 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. Two sons and a daughter preceded her in death.

Services will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. in Dawson Funeral Home with Rev. Edsel Hartman officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery at Newcomerstown. Friends may call tonight from 7 to 9 and Thursday from 4 to 6 and 7 to 9.

She was buried in April 1969 in West Lawn Cemetery, Shady Bend, Coshocton Co., OH, Findagrave #58367675.

Donald D. Landis

WEST LAFAYETTE: Donald D. Landis, 84, of West Lafayette, Ohio, passed away at Autumn Extended Care Facility in Coshocton, Ohio, on Friday, November 18, 2011.

He was born in Canton, Ohio, on June 18, 1927, the son of the late Willard and Goldie (Wendell) Landis. He attended Newcomerstown High School and was a veteran of the United States Army during World War II, serving in the Philippines as an MP, where he received the Philippine Independence Ribbon and World War II Victory Medal. He returned from the service and was employed at Stone Creek Brickyard for over 43 years. He married Beverly Landis who preceded him in death on May 3, 2008.

Don is survived by his four children, Dale Landis of Coshocton, Ohio, Randy Landis of West Lafayette, Ohio, David Landis of South Carolina, and Joyce (Steve) Henderson of West Lafayette, Ohio; eight grandchildren; and three brothers, Ernest of West Lafayette, Ohio, Paul of Phoenix, Arizona, and Wendell Landis of South Carolina.

Don was preceded in death by two sisters, and five brothers.

A funeral service will be held in the Chapel of Given Dawson Funeral Home, 186 Park Ave., Coshocton, Ohio, on Tuesday, November 22, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Rod Uhlig officiating. Burial will follow in Fairfield Cemetery in West Lafayette, Ohio. The family will greet friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service on Tuesday. The Newcomerstown Veteran’s Council will conduct graveside military honors.

PHOENIX – Paul Pierce Landis passed away February 23, 2021. He was born in East Sparta, Ohio in 1929 and moved to phoenix, Arizona with his family in 1969. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Dorothy Landis, his son Audie Landis, daughter-in-law Tamye Landis, his grandchildren Nicolas and Ashley Jensen, his brother Wendell Landis, as well as his nieces and nephews. His daughter Vicki Landis preceded his death in 2018. Paul worked in construction and enjoyed spending his time hunting, fishing and camping with friends and family. He will be truly missed.

Wendell Walton Landis, Sr. born February 2, 1933, passed away July 6, 2024. Son of Willard W. and Goldie G. Wendell Landis Married Norma Jean Green on February 2, 1952 and was married for 67 years until her passing on August 26, 2019. They would have six children: Douglas M. Landis, of Massillon, Ohio, Barbara J. Landis Phillips (Edward), of Port Washington, Ohio, Leonard Landis (Sheryl), of Port Washington, Ohio, Wendell Landis, Jr. (Kathy), of Newcomerstown, Ohio, Jerry Landis (Don), of Riverview, Florida, Sue McNutt, of Newcomerstown, Ohio. Wendell and Norma were blessed with 19 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.

Wendell served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955 and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

Wendell and Norma were proud Jehovah's Witnesses and loved spreading his word. Their life was filled with love of Jehovah, family and friends.

Wendell loved his wife above all else, and enjoyed traveling, tinkering, singing and playing country music, especially the guitar. Wendell drove semi-truck all his working life, enjoying every mile! He was a seasoned fisherman, enjoying the sport with his children and grandchildren for decades. Everyone could hear Wendell before seeing him because of his beautiful whistling, always happy and joyous to be around.
