Clay Center, NE resident John Timothy Clark, Sr., 86, passed away Monday, March 29, 2021, at his home in Clay Center, NE.

John Timothy Clark, Sr., was born December 29, 1934, in Auburn, NE to Earl Timothy and Mary Elizabeth (Wigger) Clark. He received his education in Brownville, NE, and furthered his education at Peru State College. On December 25, 1953, he married Hazel Ann Hoagland in Humboldt, NE. John was employed with Dahlsten Truck Line until his retirement in 2015.

John loved spending time with his family and enjoyed Husker sporting events, fishing, camping and playing cards.

He is survived by his children, John and wife Barb Clark of Auburn, NE; Tom and wife Sandy Clark of Auburn, NE; Pat Clark of Clay Center, NE; Ronda and husband Terry Nolan of Hastings, NE; and Christy Clark and fiancé Benjamin Ayala of Sutton, NE; 19 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

John was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Hazel Ann Clark and son, Jeremy Clark.

Clay Center resident Hazel Ann Clark, 77, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2015, at her home in Clay Center, NE.

Ann was born on June 25, 1937, in Humboldt, NE to Leland and Josephine Marie (Lowe) Hoagland. Growing up she lived in various places, including many different states. Early in the summer of 1953, Ann met John at a skating rink in Nebraska City. They continued dating until they would be married on December 25, 1953, at Humboldt, NE. The two would reside in Brownville, NE where they had two children, John Jr. and Thomas before moving to Auburn and having a third son, Patrick. John Sr. and Ann would raise their three children in Auburn until they moved to Clay Center in 1976, where they would remain. The family would add one when Keith Russell moved into the house. In 1986, the Clark household grew by three more when Ronda, Jeremy, and Christy joined the family.

Ann was a loving woman, who was deeply involved in her family. She was passionate about sports, especially Nebraska Husker athletics and also enjoyed reading, sewing, quilting, camping, and the presence of children. A newborn baby introduced into the family was sure to be found on her lap. Her family and friends will always remember her for the unselfish love that she possessed.

Clark of Clay Center, NE; sons, John Clark Jr. and wife Barb of Auburn, NE; Tom Clark and wife Sandy of Auburn, NE; Pat Clark and wife Gina of Clay Center, NE; Keith Russell and wife Heidi of Fort Collins, CO; daughter, Ronda Nolan and husband Terry of Clay Center, NE; daughter, Christy Clark and fiancé Ben Ayala of Sutton, NE; brothers, Dwaine Hoagland and wife Judy of Oregon; Clarence Shiley and wife Patti of Geneva, NE; Richard Shiley of Iowa; sisters, Judy Phillips and husband Bob of Geneva, NE; Kathy Vice and husband Zach of Verdon, NE; nineteen grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leland Hoagland and Josephine Marie Lowe; Step-father, Clarence Shiley; son, Jeremy Clark; brother Sherman Shiley; sister, Nancy Barkhurst and brother in-law, Don Barkhurst.

Floyd Sawyer

Floyd Sawyer, age 93, of Georgetown, passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2007. He was born on September 13, 1913 in Mexia, Texas to parents Drew and Cora Ella (McElroy) Sawyer. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, JD Sawyer of Mt. Pleasant, Texas and Donald Dean Sawyer of Fort Worth, Texas; and two sisters, Vera Voss of Waco and Roye Scarbrough of Mexia. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ruby Sawyer of Georgetown; and a brother, Delmar Sawyer of Houston. Floyd lived in Houston and was employed for forty years with Shell Oil until he and his wife retired and moved to Georgetown in 1976. He was a veteran of World War II, member of First United Methodist Church and fifty year member of the Scottish Rite Masons. Floyd loved to fish and deer hunt. The family will receive guests for a time of visitation from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, August 26, 2007 at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 27, 2007 in the chapel of Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home with Reverend Brenda Adkins officiating. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville.

On Thursday, December 13, 2018, Floyd Trumbo departed a life of 85 years. He was born Floyd Duane Trumbo on November 9, 1933 in Winston, Missouri, to parents Harold Floyd Trumbo and Florence Wigger Trumbo. He had an older sister, Ruby, now deceased.

Floyd graduated from Winston High School and attended two years at Northwest Missouri University in Maryville. He left his studies to serve in the Army. He was stationed for two years in Hawaii. Floyd then completed his education at Central Missouri State, completing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing.

Working in sales management for Amoco Oil for 15 years took Floyd and his family to live in several Midwestern cities. He also spent 15 years working for American Parts System, an auto parts distributor. He managed warehouses serving as many as fifty stores.

Floyd was a member of the Masonic Lodge and was a Shriner. He was very active in forming a new chapter of Rotary while residing in Cape Coral, Florida. While living in Houston, Texas he was an active and enthusiastic member of the "Hey Lollies" square dance club.

His wife of 60 years, Gwen Schenck Trumbo, of the home survives. They are the proud parents of two sons, Dr. Craig Trumbo, Fort Collins, Colorado and Pastor Keith Trumbo and wife Ann Thrash Trumbo of Cataula, Georgia. They have one grandson, Taylor Trumbo of Cataula, Georgia.

Services will be arranged at a later date. Memorial contribution may be made to the Shriner Burn Hospital, Galveston, Texas.
