Jean had first been married to J. C. Dykes (1925-1974) and had three children with him. Kathleen was first married to William Jennings Brien, Jr., a U.S. Naval Reserve service member who died in California in an automobile accident 19 NOV 1945. Kathleen Woods Keefauver, 70, 506 E. Main St., Jonesborough, died Friday, June 1, 1990, in Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following a lengthy illness.
She was a Sullivan County native but had lived most of her life in Washington County. Ms. Keefauver was a daughter of Mammie Sneed Woods and the late C. L. Wood.
She was a member of Central Christian Church, Jonesborough.
Survivors, in addition to her mother, include one brother, C. L. Woods, Jr., Jonesborough, one sister Mrs. Irene Brown, Jonesborough; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Kathleen Woods Keefauver, age 70, 506 E. Main St., Jonesborough who died Friday will be held Sunday at 5:00 P.M. in the Woodall-Anderson Chapel with Minister Kurt Henson officiating. Graveside service and burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday in the Maplelawn Cemetery, Jonesborough. Pallbearers who are requested to meet at the cemetery at 10:30 A.M. Monday morning will be: Charles Gouge, James McAnich, Frank McAnich, Herman McAnich, Bob McAnich, Claude Hensley and Bill Spivey. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3 to 5 P.M. Mary Lou Keefauver, age 80, 206 P. Keefauver Rd. Gray, died unexpectedly Monday, February 22, 2010 at her residence. Mrs. Keefauver was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County. She was the daughter of the late J.C. and Frances Pearl Slagle Greene.
Mrs. Keefauver received her B.S. Degree from East Tennessee State University in 1965. She taught in the Washington County School System from 1958 until her retirement in 1998, teaching at Boones Creek Elementary, Gray Elementary and Boones Creek Middle School. During her career Mrs. Keefauver taught with the philosophy "I believe in the dignity and worth of all students who are in my care." She received several awards including EXCEL teacher of Boones Creek Middle School, Washington County Education Association Teacher of the Year, local and state distinguished awards as co-sponsor of the AIASA Chapter, leader of the sixth grade 4-H Club, which won most outstanding award for Washington County.
Mrs. Keefauver also sponsored many activities, including cheerleading , who under her leadership won several trophies and superior ratings while attending camps, yearbook sponsor, sponsored students at the Franklin Math Bowl, co-sponsored American Industrial Arts Student Association National and State Competition. She served on numerous committees such as the Southern Association of Colleges & Schools Self-study and Evaluation of Boones Creek Middle School, the Governors Grass Roots Forum and committee for selection of appropriate materials in Special Education.
Mrs. Keefauver was a member of the National Education Association, Tennessee Education Association, Washington County Education Association, National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and the Boones Creek Historical Trust, for which she initiated the Colgate Youth for America campaign where 4-H members interviewed the elderly citizens of the Boones Creek community in an effort to preserve the history of the community. She was a member of Boones Creek Christian Church, where she was a youth leader.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Keefauver was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Keefauver, in 1997.
She is survived by four children, Peggy Proffitt and husband Curtis, Johnnie Keefauver and wife Judy and Freda Keefauver, all of Gray, and Randy Keefauver and wife Alex, Charlotte, NC; three grandchildren, Jody Keefauver, Jami Adkins and Chad Proffitt; five great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at 6:00 P.M. from the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home with Byron Paddock, Minister, officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 P.M. until the service hour in the East Parlor of the funeral home. The graveside committal service will be held Thursday at 11:00 A.M. in Highland Church of Christ Cemetery. Those planning to attend are requested to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 A.M. Thursday. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
Those who prefer to make memorial contributions may do so to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Mary Ann Keefauver Martin, 89, Johnson City, died Monday, January 27, 2020, at Grace Living Personal Care Home, Marietta, GA, following a brief illness.
Mary Ann was born in Jonesborough, and was a lifelong Washington County resident. She was the daughter of the late Paul and Beulah Saylor Keefauver.
Mary Ann retired in 1986 as Assistant Vice-President from First American National Bank following thirty-eight years of service, and following retirement worked at First Tennessee Bank until 2000.
She was a member of Boones Creek Christian Church and the Mary Keefauver Sunday School Class.
In addition to her parents, Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Eugene Martin, in 2007, and her brother, Harold Keefauver.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Jean Martin Collins and husband Timothy, Kennesaw, GA; her granddaughter, Kelsi Austin Collins, Kennesaw; her great-granddaughter, Kameron Hadley Collins, Kennesaw; two nieces, Peggy Proffitt and Freda Keefauver; two nephews, Johnny Keefauver and Randy Keefauver.
The funeral service will be conducted Friday, January 31, 2020, at 1:00 P.M., from the sanctuary of Boones Creek Christian Church, with David Clark and Dick Morris, Ministers, officiating.
Interment will follow in Monte Vista Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
The family will receive friends Friday prior to the service from 12:00-1:00 P.M. at the church.
