CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas Funeral for former Lawton resident Jean M. Cooper, 79, Corpus Christi, Texas, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Seaside Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, Corpus Christi.

Mrs. Cooper died Thursday, Dec. 16, 2004.

She was born Sept. 6, 1925, in Lawton to Carl and Sarah Patton. She attended Lawton High School and Dalton Business School. She married D.G. "Jack" Cooper on Jan. 31, 1942. She and her husband were co-owners of Patton Oil Corporation. They moved to Texas in 1946 and made several other moves due to his work. They were members of Weber Road Church of Christ for many years and supported world missions, Let's Start Talking and World Bible Translation Center.

Survivors include her husband; a sister, Barbara James and husband, Jim, Lawton; a sister-in-law, Helen Espinosa, San Antonio; two sons and daughters-in-law: Larry Jack and Beth Cooper, Houston; and Don G. and Diane Cooper, Corpus Christi; three grandchildren: Don Cooper Jr. and Larry Jack II, both of Houston; and Tina Cooper-Rivera and husband, James, Corpus Christi; three great-grandchildren: Trevor Austin, David Austin and Treaver; a nephew, Troy Burt and wife, Raina, Lawton; and a niece, Kathy Pellerin and husband, Alen, Lawton.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial contributions may be made to The World Bible Translation Center, P.O. Box 18648, Fort Worth, Texas 76118-1664.

Delbert Gainor Cooper, known as "Jack" by family and friends passed from this life February 13, 2014 at the age of 91. He was born in Seymour, Texas on December 2, 1922 to Lonnie and Nora Cooper He enlisted in US Army in 1939. He was stationed at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma where he met and married the love of his life, Miss Jean Marie Patton on January 31, 1942. Jack began his career with Halliburton, in Beeville, Texas in 1946, in 1952 finally settled in Corpus Christi, Texas working for Baker Oil Tools, then Johnson Testers in McAllen, Texas. Jack felt the future was in natural gas, so after a climb up the ladder — he went to work for Texas Oil and Gas Corp. where he retired and went on his own developing Patton Oil Corp. in 1978. Jack worked long hours, traveled many miles with his jobs, but still never lost his tender, loving, and kind nature. His Christianity carried with him wherever he went even when working. Jack was a man of his word. He loved old westerns "Gunsmoke" and of course, the Dallas Cowboys. He was a great outdoorsman, an avid fisherman, and hunter. He spent many winters in Colorado hunting, skiing, and he loved to travel. Jack "Papaw" was a kind soul, nourishing, and generous by nature. He was a wonderful son, brother, husband, brother-in-law, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved a little girl named Barbara who grew up to be his best friend – his sister-in-law.

Jack was preceded in death by his father and mother; his beloved wife of 62 years Jean; his son, Larry Jack Cooper, his son David Buttles; sisters, Iva Mae, Velma; and brother, William.

Donald Gene Cooper passed from this life October 18, 2023 at the age of 78 after a long illness. He was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on October 4, 1945. He graduated 1965 from Calhoun High School in Port Lavaca, Texas and attended Victoria Jr. College. Don married his wife of 58 years, Diane Graham on June 5, 1965.

Don was a fan of classic cars. He attended tech school for auto body repair in Houston to prepare him for the business he owned and operated for more than 50 years. He opened House of Fiberglass and Cooper's Collision Center in 1973 which is still operating today. He also founded the Texas Corvette/Chevy Expo in Houston, Dallas and Oklahoma City in 1978. The event is attended by Corvette enthusiasts worldwide and celebrating its 46th year in January 2024. A strong, confident and considerate person, Don cared deeply and quietly. He was loving and kind, encouraging the ones around him to be all they could be.

He is survived by his wife Diane, his son Donald Gene Cooper Jr and daughter Tina Diane Cooper-Rivera, two grandsons, Austin Cooper-Rivera and David Cooper, his favorite Aunt Barbara James along with her husband Jim James both of Lawton, Oklahoma, his sister-in-law Beth Cooper and nephew Larry Jack Cooper of Houston. He is preceded in death by his father D.G. "Jack" Cooper and Jean Cooper, both of Corpus Christi and his brothers Larry Cooper and David Buttles of Houston.

The family would like to thank Mike Alvarado for being his daily companion for the last several years while watching "Gunsmoke". We are all thankful to have had him in our lives. Don always appreciated the hard work and dedication of the Coopers Collision family; Cindy, Rey, Leo, Edward, Ben, Audy, Juan, Jesse, Clayton and Kevin.

Viewing will be held at Seaside Funeral Home November 4, 2023, 10am - 1pm. Chapel service at 1pm and Graveside immediately following at Seaside Memorial Park, 4357 Ocean Drive, Corpus Christi, Texas.

Pallbearers are: Miguel Alvarado, Rey Vargas, Edward Cisneros, Austin Rivera, David Cooper, Leo Trevino, Roy Rodriguez and Greg Bassett. Honorary Pallbearers are Clayton Sells and Mario Garcia.

A public viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Seaside Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. that same day. Interment to follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
