Robert T. Windle was born on 25 October 1900 in Louisa Co., VA. He married Virginia Jones. He died on 23 November 1990.



Note: Robert T. Windle initially worked the family land and was involved in the lumber industry, however, he hurt his back and was unable to continue in that business. In the 30's they made the decision to go into the general store business. They bought a piece of property on Broad Street Road / Route 250 and Shallow Well Road (Gouchland County). That was the main route between Charlotesville and Richmond at the time. The property contained a small house. They moved part of the old Windle homestead (yes part of the house!) to the location and connected to the house that was there. This new construction was their home and the "Windle Store" that was in business at that location for over 50 years. The house is still there. Growing up in the 1960's, his grandchildren spent a number of happy summers there helping Grandfather run the store.

Hurt In Accident, Dr. Brush Dies

Dr. Murray Peabody Brush, former Johns Hopkins University dean and onetime headmaster of the Jacob Tome Institute at Port Deposit, died early this week following and automobile accident near Ojai, Cal., where he has been living with his son, Murray P. Brush, Jr. He was 82.

Dr. Brush received hi Ph.D. in Romance languages at Hopkins in 1898, after which he became a language instructor at the university. In 1912, he became full professor, and was dean of the faculty from 1917 to 1919.

At Tome From 1919 To 1932

He left Hopkins in 1919 to become director of the Jacob Tome Institute until 1932, when he resigned to become headmaster of the California Preparatory School for Boys at Ojai. He retired from the school in 1949, and he and Mrs. Brush lived with their son.

Besides his son, Dr. Brush is survived by his wife, Mrs. Charlotte Kinney Brush, sister of the late S. Wardell Kinney, former headmaster of Gilman School.

Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Edward Cudahy, of Chicago; four grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.



Dr. Murray Peabody Brush lived on 19 April 1910 in 1019 North Calvert Street, Baltimore, MD.2 Cause of death: Automobile accident near Ojai, California.
