History Of Scioto County, Ohio
Pioneer Record Of Southern Ohio, Evans Vol. 1 1903:
page 396... Orville Grant gave the place the name "Galena" for his former home in Galena, Illinois. This name was adopted when the first plat of the town was made October 10,1850. This plat contained 12 acres, taken from surveys, 7,808, 2,850, and 2,345, owned by B. Edwards, Aaron Moore and the heirs of Jesse Edwards. There were forty five lots on the plat numbered from 1 to 45. Four additions were made July 5,1883: lots 46 and 49 to 59, by Thomas Newman; lots 47 and 48 by John Williams; lots 60 to 65 by E.D.L.Morgan; lots 66 to 73 by Grafton Windle. These additions aggregate a little over 10 acres. On April 14,1891, Amos and Ella (Windle) Jenkins platted an addition containing 7 acres. The lots were numbered 74-79 and were part of survey 7,808.

Obituary (Courtesy of Christine Armstrong)
Windle- Died in Cincinnati, Ohio March 13, 1877, Mrs. Mary K. Windle, in the 73rd year of her age. The subject of this notice was born in Augusta Co., in this state. Born of Christian parents, she was dedicated to God by baptism, and in early life, entered in full Church relations, with the Presbyterian Church. On changing her residence about 45 years ago, from Augusta Co, to New Market, she also changed her church relation by connecting herself with the Lutheran Church. After the death of her husband, Charles Windle, she spent much of her time with her children, two of whom are living in this community; John P. Windle Esq. and Mrs. John H. Rice. In the early part of last fall, she was visited by her daughter, Mrs. Martin, who resides in Cincinnati, who insisted on her mother going with her to her home to spend the winter. This she agreed to do, and while there sickened and died. By her request, upon her death bed, her body was brought back to New Market for internment, by the side of her
departed husband, where she now sleeps in Jesus, in hope of a glorious resurrection. It was "sown in corruption" It will be "raised in incorruption" It was "sown a natural body" it will be "raised a spiritual Body". But whilst her body rest in the grave, the soul has taken flight to the world of glory. It went up from the city in the West, to the great city above the city of New Jerusalem, where the millions of the faithful in the ages past were gathered home as "The redeemed of the Lord". Mrs. Windle was a humble, devoted Christian, whose plety was manifested in her daily department and conversation. Her last years of impaired bodily health, which she bore unmurmuring patience and Christian fortitude. She realized with the Psalmist that it was good to be afflicted; that these drew her near to the cross and to him who had suffered for her salvation. Though she has been removed from the Church and loved one of earth, yet she has left a rich legacy of good counsel, plety and Christian example.
She was buried in March 1877 in St. Matthew's Lutheran Church Cemetery, New Market, Shenandoah Co., VA.
Mary K. Dennison was also known as Polly Dennison. She lived in September 1850 in New Market, Shenandoah Co., VA.
