PIONEER PHYSICIAN DIES AT TAYLORVILLE

Dr. J. H. Kitzmiller Was One of Best Known Men In Christian County.

TAYLORVILLE, ILL., June 8 -- Dr. Joseph H. Kitzmiller, one of Taylorville's pioneer physicians, died at 6 o'clock this evening at his home in this city as a result of a general decline.

The decedent was born in Eastern Tennessee May 27, 1849, hence he was in his fifty-ninth year. He was of German descent. His father, the late M. V. Kitzmiller of Girard, was a Baptist minister of many years standing. He moved with his family to Girard in 1856 and organized the first Baptist church in that place, remaining in charge until a few years before his death.

The decedent was one of a family of ten children, several of whom are still living. At an early age he decided upon the study of medicine and entered the office of Dr. Fountain Jones of Girard. He attended college lectures in 1872-3 and receiving a diploma located at Pana for the practice of his profession. After staying there two years he located in Taylorville and had lived here ever since.

On May 27, 1874, he was united in marriage to Miss Emma Bray, a native of Ohio. Three children were born to this union. The widow and all of them surviving. They are: Mrs. Auburey Speer of Taylorville, Mrs. Dixon Bond of Waco, Tex. and Hardy Kitzmiller of Decatur.

The decedent was a membero of the Knights of Pythias lodge.

THe funeral services will be held Wednesday at the Baptist church and interment will follow at Oak Hill cemetery.



He was buried in June 1908 in Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville, Christian Co., IL.
Dr. Joseph H. Kitzmiller began military service Civil War Service, Co. "F", 58th Illinois Infantry. He lived on 13 June 1900 in Taylorville, Christian Co., IL.2
