Mrs. Virginia Mae Windle Cook, 79, of 644 Sixth Street, Pulaski, died Friday night in the Pulaski Community Hospital.
Born in Pulaski County, she was the daughter of the late William Floyd Windle and Bessie Agnes Jones Windle.
She was a member of the Draper Valley Baptist Church for over 40 years and a retired employee of the Pulaski Laundry.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John William Cook.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Clyde (Nancy Pearl) Thompson, Pulaski; two sons; the Rev. William Clarence Cook, Pulaski, and George Earnest Cook, Richmond; one brother, John Windle, Draper; four sisters, Mrs. Orby (Ruth) Akers, Mrs. Clyde (Nannie) Quesenberry and Mrs. Phillip (Ruby) Tickle, all of Draper, and Mrs. Leonard (Maggie) Underwood, Pulaski; and three grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren.
The funeral will be today at 3 p.m. at the Draper Valley Baptist Church with the Rev. Wilfred L. Overton officiating. Burial will follow in the Draper Valley Presbyterian. Church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. where it will lie instate until the service. The family will meet at the home of the Rev. William Clarence Cook of 641 Fifth Street N.E., Pulaski Bower Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements

DRAPER – Ruby Windle Tickle, age 86, beloved wife, mother, and friend, departed this life on Jan. 29, 2006, at Pulaski Community Hospital after a brief illness. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior and her beloved husband, James "Phip" Tickle, Sr., and her wonderful son, James "Jimmy" Tickle. Ruby was a lifelong resident of Draper and member of the Draper Valley Baptist Church. She was dedicated to her family, to her church, and to her many friends.
She was the daughter of the late William Floyd Windle and Bessie Jones Windle. Preceding her in death were her brothers, John Windle and Earnest Clyde Windle; her sisters, Virginia Cook, Nannie Quesenberry, Maggie Underwood, and Ruth Akers. Ruby was a long time employee of Pulaski Apparel and Lee Jeans and had served as a volunteer at Pulaski Community Hospital. Left with many beautiful memories are her children and spouses, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all those who knew her as "Granny Tickle".
Her children are Johnny and Ruby Tickle, Draper; Jerry and Linda Tickle, Morris, Mn. and Bessie Tickle, Draper. Grandchildren and spouses include Chris and Lynne Tickle, Richmond; Kelly and Jeff DeWitt, Roseville, Mn.; Daphne and Lee LaFleur, Draper; Derek and Kim Tickle, Dublin; Jeffrey Tickle, St. Paul, Mn; Julie Tickle, St. Paul, Mn., and BethanyTickle, Morris, Mn. Great-grandchildren are Philip and Pierce Tickle, Richmond; Kayla and Matthew DeWitt, Roseville, Mn. and Joshua Tickle, Dublin. Grandchildren by devotion include Jennifer Bolling, Angela Hill, Joey and Bradley Rigney, and Ryan McCollum. Also surviving are her sister-in-law Frances Windle, and numerous nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.
Although she loved the beauty of flowers, she would appreciate memorial donations in her honor to the American Diabetes Association, P. O. Box 1131, Fairfax, Virginia 22038-1131 or the Draper Valley Baptist Church, 3200 Lee Highway, Draper, Va. 24324.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. from the Draper Valley Baptist Church with the Rev. Wilford Overton officiating. Burial will follow in the Draper Valley Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Pulaski County. Visiting will be Wednesday evening from the Draper Valley Baptist Church where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Inc., Pulaski, Va.

DRAPER, Va. -- Nannie Alverta Windle Quesenberry, 89, of Draper died Thursday night, August 7, 2003, in the Wythe County Community Hospital.
She was born in Pulaski County on December 31, 1913, and was the daughter of the late William and Bessie Windle. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Smith Quesenberry, Sr., and by two grandsons, Wayne and Mike Akers and by a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Hughes.
She was a member of the Draper's Valley Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are: five Daughters & Sons-in-Law, Betty & Charlie Akers, Pulaski; Ruby & Earl Hughes, Johnson City, TN; Janet & James Copenhaver, Collinsville; Gale & Perry Kipps, Christiansburg; Two Sons & Daughters-in-Law, Buddy & Patty Quesenberry, Draper; Jimmy & Bonnie Quesenberry, Draper; One Sister, Ruby Tickle, Draper; 12 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren, 3 Great Great Grandchildren.
Visiting will be Saturday evening, August 9, from Stevens Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held Saturday night at 8:00 PM following the visitation. A graveside service will be held Sunday at 2:00 PM from the Draper's Valley Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery, Wythe County.

MARGARET WINDLE ALLISON Mrs. Margaret Windle Allison went to be with the Lord on September 27, 2006 at her home in Draper, VA. She was a lifelong resident of Draper except for a brief time spent living in Wythe County. She was born in Pulaski County on November 17, 1925 and was the daughter of the late J.E. and Etta Windle. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Wayne "Booty" Allison; an infant brother; three sisters: Mrs. Lois Quesenberry, Mrs. Elizabeth Roseberry and Mrs. Lola Dalton; and by five of her six children: Cynthia "Cindy" Allison, Randall "Randy" Allison, Keith Emmuel Allison, William Wayne Allison, Jr. and Alan "Ricky" Allison; and by one grandson, Travis Quesenberry Allison. Mrs. Allison was an accomplished writer having had numerous articles and short stories published in her younger years. Later in life she wrote columns for the Southwest Times in Pulaski, the Enterprise in Wytheville, and the Carroll County News of Hillsville. She also was a carrier for the Southwest Times for many, many years. She was an avid reader and continued her love for writing throughout her life. She also had been highly involved with the family business of 35 years, Windle Grocery in Draper. She was a graduate of Draper High School and graduated with honors. She was also awarded several scholarships for her writing, art and high academics by several colleges. She later attended college with much success and joy. She was an extremely intelligent lady and learning was always a pleasure for her. Mrs. Allison was very talented with crafts and art. She painted numerous oil paintings, charcoal drawings and had delved in several other art forms. She had given great pleasure to her family over the years by sharing her artwork with them. She was extremely gifted in designing and creating beautiful afghans using man different fabrics and methods. She was a lifelong member of the Draper Valley Presbyterian Church. She was a strong believer in the Lord and saw God's love and beauty in all things, especially in her beautiful cats and other animals she loved dearly. Surviving are: one daughter, Ms. Alice A. Hensley of Bristol, TN; seven grandchildren, Valerie Walling of Tennessee, Margo Armbrister of Pulaski, Melanie Trent of Christiansburg, Daniel Allison of Dublin, Rhonda Allison of Pulaski, and Cass and Heith Allison of the Philippines; six great-grandchildren; and three nieces and one nephew, Elaine Quesenberry, Joan and Connie Roseberry, and Rex Dalton. Mrs. Allison was very fortunate to have a very special nephew, Michael Quesenberry, who has been a great help and companion to her for the last several years. Funeral service will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the Draper Valley Presbyterian Church with Rev. Kenneth Pierce and Rev. George Freeman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Stevens Funeral Home. The family will gather after funeral services at the Brush Arbor Worship Center, located at 410 Newbern Road, Pulaski. Condolences may be sent to individual family members. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home in Pulaski.
