Death of Geo. Roush

Mr. George Roush died on March 17th, 1907, at his home (sic), one mile south of Fairview, Ohio. He was aged 89 years, 1 month, and 4 days. He was born in Adams county on Feb. 13, 1808. He married Rachel Tedrick on the 13th of October, 1829. To this union were born six children. His wife died on the 20th day of Nov. 1878.

His second marriage was contracted on the 7th of December, 1890, with Lucinda Clarke, who survives him.

He lived in the house where he died 65 years he was a member of the Christian Church, having united with it some sixty years ago. Forty years of that time he served as an Elder of the Church. For his righteousness of character and honesty of purpose he was noted. He was always cheerful, carrying sunshine wherever he went. The poor never called on him in vain for help, and when leaving, they carried with them the subsgtantial evidence of his boundless charity. The funeral was March 20th at the South Liberty Church, conducted by Elder Buckingham. He was ingterred after services in the Strange Cemetery.

NOTE: A second newpaper obituary states that he died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. James Reece, of Lebanon, Indiana, and that he was buried in Strange Cemetery on March 21.

He was buried on 21 March 1897 in Strange Cemetery, Hamer Twp., Highland Co., OH, Findagrave #106445865.

She married Eli Layman, son of Benjamin Layman and Catherine Roush, on 3 April 1860 in Highland Co., OH. Mary Jane Roush died on 4 March 1924 in Hamer Twp., Highland Co., OH.
