Announcement is made of the marriage of Miss Barbara Jackson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Jackson, Orleans to Air Cadet Alvin Eugene Hancock, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Hancock of Hardinsburg which took place at the Orleans Methodist Church, December 11.

The bride is a teacher in Orleans High School and was graduated from Indiana University. She is a Tri Kappa. Cadet Hancock was graduated from Indiana law school and admitted to the Indiana State bar before entering the armed services. He is stationed at Great Lakes where the bride expects to join him later.

A. Eugene Hancock

Funeral services for A. Eugene Hancock, 71, of 6611 Navilleton Road, Floyd Knobs, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Seabrook Funeral Home with burial in Fairview Cemetery in Orleans. He died Monday at Floyd Memorial Hospital.

He was a former judge, prosecutor and county Republican chairman. He was active in Republican politics since he began practicing law in New Albany in 1945. He was former New Albany city attorney and was county prosecuting attorney for four years.

He served as New Albany's first city judge from 1957-1959, and was manager of the New Albany auto license branch from 1950 to 1958.

A native of Hardinsburg, Hancock graduated from Indiana University law school in 1942.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1693, Masonic Lodge 338, American and Floyd County Bar Associations and Centenary United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, the former Barbara Jackson; a daughter, Patricia A. Kesler of Traverse City, Mich.; a sister, Louise Mader of Richmond; and four grandchildren.

Visitation at the funeral home will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.



He was buried in March 1991 in Fairview Cemetery, Orleans, Orange Co., IN.

John H. Roche

Funeral services for John H. Roche, 73, of Clarksville, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Seabrook Funeral Home, New Albany, with burial in Graceland Memorial Park. He died Friday and Jewish Hospital, Louisville.

He was formerly of New Albany, a retired fire chief of the New Albany Fire Department for 27 years, retired from Indiana Arson Department in Indianapolis, and a member of St. Mark's United Church of Christ and Pathagoras Masonic Lodge 335.

Survivors include his wife, the former Hazel Sheets; three sons, Gerald Roche of Lighthouse Point, Fla., Keith Roche of Lilburn, Georgia and Stewart Roche, Clarksville; one (the rest is missing.)



He was buried in October 1985 in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park Cemetery, New Albany, Floyd Co., IN.

CLARKSVILLE -- Kermit G. Sullivan, 71. died yesterday at Jewish Hospital in Louisville.

He was a native of Upton, Kentucky., owner/operator of K. Sullivan & Sons Inc., a Master Carpenter, an army veteran of World War II, a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans and a member of Clark Masonic Lodge No. 40, the Scottish Rite and First Southern Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, the former M. Pauline Emery; two sons, Kenneth G. Sullivan of Jeffersonville and Steven S. Sullivan of New Albany; two daughters, Diana S. Tagliarino of New Albany, and April Y. Powers of Sellersburg; three sisters, Bernice Adams and Eula Firth, both of Louisville; and Ruby Wirth of Hodgenville, Ky.; and four grandchildren.

Arrangements are pending at E. M. Coots' Sons Funeral Home in Jeffersonville.
