MARRIAGE ANNOUNCEMENT - The Salem, Indiana Democrat:
Miss Berniece Walker Becomes Bride Of Harold F. Day
The suburban home of Mr. and Mrs. Walter E. Walker, was the scene of a pretty wedding Thursday afternoon, June 21, when their daughter Miss Berniece Walker, became the bride of Harold F. Day, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles F. Day.
The Rev. Lloyd L. Roach, pastor of the First Christian church of Salem, read the double ring ceremony at three o'clock in the afternoon, before an improvised altar of greenery and garden flowers, lighted with tapers in two seven-branched clandelabra.
Preceding the ceremony, Miss Anita Short played "I Love You Truly" and "Oh Promise Me." For the entrance of the brides party, Miss Short played The Bridal Chorus from "Lohengrin" and during congratulations, "A Sweet Mystery of Life" was played.
The bride was lovely in a gown of candlelight satin fashioned with bouffant skirt, puffed sleeve and sweetheart neckline ornamented with seed pearls. Her only jewelry was a strand of pearls. Her two-tiered veil was held in place with a coronet of baby's breath and blue corn flowers. She carried an arm bouquet of Madonna lilies tied with white satin ribbon and the streamers knotted with blue cornflowers.
Miss Wanda Graves, the bride's only attendant was gowned in blue taffeta, fashioned with sweetheart neckline and puffed sleeves. She wore a double strand of pearls. Her floral head piece matched her bouquet of Madonna lilies and pink gladioli.
Mrs. Walker, mother of the bride wore a navy blue dress with black accessories. Her corsage was fashioned of pink and white carnations.
Mrs. Day, mother of the bridegroom, wore a light blue dress with tan accessories. Her corsage matched that worn by the bride's mother.
Randall Walker, brother of the bride, was best man.
An informal reception followed the ceremony. The two-tiered decorated wedding cake, topped with a miniature bride and bridegroom was cut by the bride and bridegroom.
The couple left on a short wedding trip. The bride traveled in a blue gabardine suit, with which she wore black and white accessories.
Mr. and Mrs. Day will be at home on the former Allen Wiseman farm, west of Salem.
The bride was graduated from Salem high school in 1945 and the bridegroom was graduated therefrom in 1942.
