Belva Lucille Kline, 95, of Heritage Manor, died Saturday, Feb. 11, 2006, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Dubuque Bible Church, 3500 Pennsylvania Ave., where friends may call after 10 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in East Rickardsville Cemetery. She was born on Nov. 16, 1910, in Blackhawk County, Iowa, daughter of Isaac M. and Mamie (Eikenberry) Forney. She married William L. Kline on Dec. 25, 1930; he preceded her in death on April 24, 2004. Most of her life she was a homemaker and a farm wife.

Surviving are two sons, James R. (Susan) Kline, of Gilmer, Texas, and Thomas W. (Linda) Kline, of Durango, Iowa; a daughter, Helen Kay (Rodney) Whitman, of Clearwater, Fla.; and nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Timothy Kline; a granddaughter, Deborah Kline; three brothers, John, Burton and Arnold Forney; and a sister, Helen Denlinger.



She was buried in February 2006 in East Rickardsville Methodist-Episcopalian Cemetery, Rickardsville, Dubuque Co., IA, Findagrave #13343191.

FORNEY, John

John Forney, 88, of Oxford, died September 28, 2005. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, October 1 at 11:00 AM in Allen Memorial UMC in Oxford. Born in Waterloo, Iowa, he attended Manchester College and taught high school before being drafted into the Army in 1940. He served as an instructor during WWII and after the war completed a PhD in microbiology at Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA. In Los Angeles, CA, he taught at the University of Southern California and was assistant Director of the LA City Public Health Department laboratory, before moving to Atlanta, GA in 1963 to take a position as a public health laboratory consultant at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). In 1967, Congress passed the Clinical Laboratories Improvement Act which required all laboratories operating in interstate commerce to have a federal license. As a part of the Federal oversight, he developed a laboratory safety program and presented over 100 laboratory safety workshops in the US and overseas. After retiring, he continued with traveling, gardening and community commitments to Allen Memorial UMC, the Oxford Historical Society, and the Oxford Historical Cemetery where he will be buried. He is survived by his wife, Martha, 3 children, 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. Arrangements by Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, Covington.

FORNEY, PALMER E., 72, of Largo, died Wednesday (April 23, 1997) at Columbia Largo Medical Center. He came here in 1989 from his native Waterloo, Iowa, where he retired as a detective after 35 years with the Waterloo Police Department. He was an Army veteran of World War II and served 30 years in the National Guard and Army Reserves. He was a member of Hammond Avenue Brethren Church, Waterloo, and Elks Lodge 1224, St. Petersburg.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Gloria V.; four daughters, Sandra Summers and Sara Reynolds, both of Seminole, Sharon Koenig, Tampa, and Susan Wilson, Sylva, N.C.; a brother, Loren Forney, Basye, Va.; a sister, Betty Carlson, Waterloo; and three grandchildren, Matt, Chris and Amy Wilson, all of Seminole.
