Obituary -- unknown newspaper (Findagrave.com):

Last Rites Held For Lt. Enlow

Last rites were held Tuesday, Dec. 9, at Elberfeld for Lt. John W. Enlow, whose remains were brought from overseas on the transport Robert Burns. Lt. Enlow was killed in action March 16, 1945 at Girgenbrath (sic), Germany.

He had served with the 99th Division, Co. D, 393 Infantry Regiment, in England, Belgium and Germany. Prior to going overseas he had received training at Camp Van Dorn, Miss., and Camp Maxey, Texas.

Lt. Enlow was killed in battle after a safe crossing of the Rhine river. He was first wounded in the feet, which was not a fatal injury. However, while being carried to the ambulance, he was hit in the chest and was killed instantly. The bullet that killed him was fired not farther away than 25 yards.

Lt. Enlow was known to many of his friends as "Bud." He was a very quiet and kind boy. All who knew him learned to love him. While at home flowers and music occupied his leisure time. He could play any kind of string music, his favorite instrument being the violin. He had appeared on radio programs many times and had a band of his own, the "Ditney Ramblers."

He entered service Dec. 9, 1942. He put his whole heart in the Army and was proud of his promotions which he won the hard way.

Escort for Lt. Enlow was 2d Lt. William K. Spurlin of Florida. The American Legion, Post 351, was in charge of the military rites. Rev. Logan Weaver, formerly an Army chaplain, officiated at the services. Pallbearers were Joe Boyers, Clifford Engelhardt, Roy Nicholson, Robert Lochmueller, Howell Wheaton and Eddie Adstedt. Interment was in Wesley Chapel cemetery, with a police car as an escort for the funeral cars.

Lt. Enlow is survived by his mother, Mrs. Sadie Trousdale; a step-father, Robert Trousdale; a son, John W., Jr.; two brothers, Jimmy and Bobbie; four sisters, Mrs. Maxine Wade of Mt. Vernon, Jacqueline Cleiva Jean and Ginger Enlow of Elberfeld, and two half-brothers, Teddy Wayne and Robert Flether (sic) Trousdale.

He was buried in Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Boonville, Warrick Co., IN, Findagrave #11224536.
