Double Wedding
A double wedding ceremony took place at Elkton, Md., Sunday evening, Sept. 6, at 6:30 o'clock, when Miss Helen B. Pickett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar E. Pickett, of Winfield, became the bride of Irvin M. Bohr, of Baltimore, and Miss Pearl E. Conaway, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jay E. Conaway, of Winfield, became the bride of W. Harold Myers of Westminster. The ring ceremony was used.

William H. Myers
WESTMINSTER - William Herald Myers, 69, of 608 Poole Road, Westminster, died Monday night at Carroll County General Hospital following an extended illness.
Born in Westminster, he was a son of the late William H. and Bessie Lockhard Myers.
He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church; Westminster Lions Club; American Legion, Carroll Post 31; Loyal Order of the Moose 1381; VFW Molleville Farm Post 467 and the Westminster Elks Lodge 2277.
He served in the US. Navy during World War II. He was the former owner of the Maryland Candy Company and founded? ? the Myers Catalog Showrooms in 1961, retiring as chairman of the board in 1979.
Surviving are wife Pearl Conaway Myers; sons Dr. Boyd D. of Annandale, Va., and Bryan D. of Westminster; daughter Bonnie M. Lockard of Westminster; sister Jane Heagy of Westminster; brothers Francis, Donald E. and Eugene, all of Westminster; and four grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Thomas D. Fletcher and Son Funeral Home, 254 E., main St., Westminster. The Rev. Dr. Frederick P. Eckhardt, his pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen memorial Gardens, Finksburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 3 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
In lieu of other memorials, contributions may be made to the Carroll County Unit of the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 824, Westminster.

Death of Mrs. Phoebe Ann Helsley
Mrs. Phoebe Ann Helsley, widow of William Helsley, died near Conicville on April 23rd, 1907, aged 74 years, 7 months, and 11 days.
Thirty-one years ago her husband died. and she was left alone to support herself and children. This she did successfully, by hard work, and amid tears and heart=aches known only to herself and her God in whom she trusted.
She was admitted into full membership with the Reformed church during the pastorate of the late Rev. Hy. S. Joh Rinker. She was devoted to her church, and did what she could to support it. She was the mother of 7 children, 5 are living and 2 dead. There were 23 grandchildren and 10 great grand children.
Her funeral was conducted by her pastor, Rev. H. Ditzler, and her remains laid at rest in the cemetery at Conicville. H. D.
