Bruce R. Jacobson, 68, of Cary, died Friday, May 7, 2010, at Good Shepherd Hospital. He was born Aug. 10, 1941, in Viroqua, Wis., to Edwin M. and Marian E. Jacobson, who preceded him in death. He worked for Continental Insurance Co. from 1964 until 1994. He recently was working for Engineering Systems Inc. in Aurora. He most recently was serving on boards of the Insurance Committee of the Union League Club of Chicago, Governor's Arson Award Committee, Loss Executive Assn., Northern Illinois Adjusters Assn., and Central Illinois Adjusters Assn. He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Williamson) Jacobson, whom he married Dec. 7, 1963, in LaCrosse, Wis.; two children, Todd (Jeanette) Jacobson of Palos Verdes, Calif., and Eric (Nina) Jacobson of Bartlett; four grandchildren, Edwin, Josephine, Talia and Truman; and two brothers, Mark (Sue) Jacobson and Gary (Mary) Jacobson of Westby, Wis. The visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 10, at Kahle-Moore Funeral Home, 403 Silver Lake Road, Cary. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 11, at Cary United Methodist Church, 500 First St., Cary. Burial will be in Windridge Memorial Park, Cary.

Marlin L. Smith, 93, of Creve Coeur, passed away at 6:55 a.m. Thursday, May 9, 2019 at Apostolic Christian Skylines in Peoria.

Born November 23, 1925 in Marietta to Joseph Eli and Hazel (Lutz) Smith, he married Joan DeWitt on June 12, 1949 in Creve Coeur. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Karen Fritsch of Peoria, Kathy Siegler of East Peoria; one granddaughter, Lindsay Siegler of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin; two great-grandchildren, Ellyn and Emmalyn of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin and one sister, Ruthella Hart of Macomb.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Carl and one sister, Bonnie.

Marlin had served in the United States Navy during WWII

He had worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 13 years, retiring in 1985 as a water treatment analyst. He then worked part time with Kelly Glass Co. and Illinois Central College. Prior to Caterpillar, he had worked for Pittsburgh Paint in Peoria for 25 years.

Marlin had been a 50 year member of the Empire Lodge 126 Ancient Free and Accepted Masons in Pekin and was a 3rd Degree Master Mason. He was also a member of the Scottish Rites Bodies, Valley of Peoria.

He enjoyed fishing, farming, tractor pulls and was a Florida Marlins baseball fan. He also loved sitting with Sophie, his caregiver dog.

Marlin had been a member of Bethel Memorial United Church of Christ in Creve Coeur where he spent many hours helping build and maintain the church.

His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 13, 2019 at Bethel Memorial United Church of Christ in Creve Coeur. Chaplain Carolyn Roper-Fowlkes will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria. Military rites will be provided by the United States Navy and the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur.

Memorial contributions may be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children, Chicago Unit, 2211 North Oak Park Avenue, Chicago, IL 60707.

Marlin's family would like to express a special thank you to all of the Apostolic Christian Skylines staff as well as the nurses and caregivers at Hospice Compassus.

He was buried in May 2019 in Swan Lake Memory Gardens, Peoria, Peoria Co., IL.

PEORIA - Philip "Pete" Fritsch, 74, of Peoria passed away Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, at his residence, with his loving family and friends by his side.

He was born Aug. 2, 1941, in Peoria to Lyle and Mildred Fritsch. Pete married his soulmate, Karen, on July 4, 1990. They had been together since 1978.

Pete is survived by his wife, Karen of Peoria; daughter, Stephanie (Ray) Becker of Peoria; son, Shane (Denise) Fritsch of Peoria; brother, Joe (Maureen) Fritsch of Peoria; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many very special devoted friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pete retired from Peoria Park District. Prior to that, he worked for Hiram Walker Distillery for 22 years.

He loved riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and rooting for Jimmie Johnson.

Pete was a member of AMVETS Post 64, American Legion 979 and the VFW in Bartonville, Ill.

The family will be hosting a celebration of life at the VFW in Bartonville on Saturday, Jan. 16, from 12 noon to 3 p.m. Services and burial will be on Monday, Jan. 18, at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens Chapel at 11 a.m.

Schmidt-Haller Burial and Cremation Services will be in charge of the cremation.
