Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Oakdale Memorial Chapel for Grace Pearl Shafer, 92, who died Tuesday in the Oakdale Convalescent Hospital. The Reverend Bob Jones, pastor of the Oakdale Christian Church, will officiate.

Interment will be in the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Modesto.

A native of St. Marys, Kansas, Mrs. Shafer had lived in the Riverbank area since 1939.

Surviving are her sons, George and Dale Shafer of Riverbank, and Harold Shafer of Trinity Center; two daughters, Ruby Ramsdell of Pleasant Hill, Oregon and Lila Henderson of Oakdale; 15 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was buried on 3 February 1977 in Modesto Pioneer Cemetery, Modesto, Stanislaus Co., CA, Findagrave #57318408.

George Shafer

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. this afternoon (Wednesday) at the Riverbank Memorial Chapel for George Joseph Shafer, 78, who died Friday in his Riverbank home. Burial will be in the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Modesto.

A native of Kansas, Mr. Shafer had lived in Riverbank since 1935 and was a self-employed carpenter for 22 years. He was a member of the Turlock Sportsmen's Club.

Survivors include a son, John Shafer of Texas; five daughters, Imojean Webster of Oakdale, Bernice Scott of Stockton, Roberta Seward of Modesto, Joanne Miller of Oregon and Donna Leeper of Fremont; two brothers, Dale Shafer of Riverbank and Harold Shafer of Trinity Center; two sisters, Ruby Ransdell of Trinity Center and Lila Henderson of Oakdale; 16 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was buried on 11 May 1983 in Modesto Pioneer Cemetery, Modesto, Stanislaus Co., CA, Findagrave #57318407.

Graveside services were held Oct. 1 at Lakewood Cemetery for Dale Eldridge Shafer, 82, of Riverbank, who died Sept. 28. Colonial Chapel of Franklin & Downs was in charge of the arrangements.

Born in Kansas, Mr. Shafer had lived in Riverbank for 58 years. He was a self-employed carpenter for 33 years and was a member of the Riverbank Volunteer Fire Department and the Modesto Travel Club. During World War II he served in the U.S. Navy.

Also surviving is his brother Harold Shafer of Alaska and his sisters, Lila Henderson of Oakdale and Ruby Ransdell of Oregon.

Dennis passed away at home Christmas morning, after a long battle with heart disease and diabetes. Dennis was born in Modesto to Fred and Georgia Hansen.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1966 to 1969 and he was honorably discharged with a rank of SK2. He then went on to become a Modesto Police Office for 18 years before retiring.

Dennis was preceded in death by his father, Fred and his mother, Georgia.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Lynn Hansen; children, Janiece Jimenez (Juan) of Puerto Rico, Jason Estep of Modesto, Janey Magana (Ramiro) of Salida, Tim Hansen and Denise Hansen of Modesto; grandchildren, Ramiro, Vanessa and Nathan Magana of Salida and Alyssa, Emily, and Ethan of Modesto; his sister, Karen Lawrence (Larry) of Modesto; nephew, Kyle Lawrence of Modesto; and niece Caitlin Lawrence of Los Banos.

His grandchildren were his everything, Dennis will be greatly missed, but forever in our hearts.
