Margaret Catherine Peeler Davis Hatfield, 87, a resident of Peachtree Longterm Care Facility, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010.

A native of Cherokee County, she was the daughter of the late Boyce and Bernice Bratton Peeler and widow of Anderson Davis and Hugh Hatfield. She was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are a son, Allen Davis and wife, Carrie; two grandsons, Scott Davis and wife, Diane, and James Davis and wife, Summer; a step-grandson, Jay Allison; great-grandchildren,

Michelle Matthews and husband, Wayne, Elizabeth Davis, Tony Dawson, Anderson Davis and wife, Bobbi Jo, Clint Davis and Vada Davis; a great-greatgrandson, Davis Matthews; a brother, Dave Peeler and wife, Emeree, of Gaffney; and a sister, Bell Gordon of Pacolet.

Mrs. Hatfield's sister, Ruth Spencer, passed away on Jan. 18, 2010.

In addition to her husbands and parents, Mrs. Hatfield was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilson Peeler and Earl Peeler; three sisters, Lucille Roberts, Rossie Martin, Inez Kirby; a great-grandson, Alan Michael Davis; and a daughter-in-law, Virginia Davis.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 23, at Pacolet Road Baptist Church at 12:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pacolet Road Baptist Church, 1104 Pacolet Hwy., Gaffney, S.C. 29340; or to Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 1886, Gaffney, S.C. 29342.

She was cremated.

As of the January, 1920 Federal Census she was listed twice, once living in her parents household in Shelby County, Texas, single, no occumpation, and the second time with her husband and her brother Clarence living on Bayview-Adamsville Road in Jefferson County, Alabama. The marriage broke up sometime after the 1920 census -- Claudius A. Trammell (1891 - 1965) had remarried to an Alice by the time of the April, 1930 census. DLB 2021.3 Mary Ellen Henderson died on 16 December 1952 in Birmingham, Jefferson Co., AL.
