Services for Widow of Retired Farmer to Be Conducted Friday

TAYLORVILLE, May 18 – Funeral services for Mrs. Cyrena Sutton Rinker, 77, for 25 years a resident of this city, who died at 1:10 o’clock Thursday afternoon in her home, 421 West Main street, will be conducted at 3:30 o’clock Friday afternoon in the Baptist church by Rev. Mr. Hastings. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery.

Mrs. Rinker was born March 28, 1851 in New Salem, W. Va., daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Silas Sutton. She moved with her parents to Ohio at the age of 15. In 1868, she was married to John Rinker, who died eight years ago. In 1870 they moved to Illinois and settled on a farm east of this city, retiring 25 years ago and moving to this city. Surviving are three children, Harry and Hal Rinker, Taylorville, and Miss Eethel (sic) Rinker, Taylorville, an instructor in the Memorial school.

TEACHER SUFFERS SKULL FRACTURE

Miss Ethel Rinker Injured While on Sightseeing Trip in Grand Canyon

TAYLORVILLE, Aug. 23 – Miss Ethel Rinker, teacher in the Memorial Junior High school suffered a fractured skull when she was knocked from a donkey that she was riding through the grand canyon in Arizona, according to word received by her brother H. R. Rinker, city, today. Miss Rinker was removed to a nearby hospital in an unconscious condition. She will be able to return home in two weeks.

The automobile was driven by an Indian. He was captured several hours after his car struck the school teacher. A bottle, half filled with liquor, was found in his car. He was arrested and sentenced to 40 days in jail and fined $100. Miss Rinker was visiting Mrs. Leonore Drennan Myers in Windsor, Ariz., when the accident occurred.

Glenn F. Weckerly, 68, of Taylorville died 7:50 p.m. Sunday in his home.

Family services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Connolly Funeral Home, Taylorville. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville

Mr. Weckerly was born in New Bethelehem (sic) , Pa., a son of Frank and Bessie Sayers Weckerly.

He owned and operated Rinker Transfer Company in Taylorville until his retirement in 1964. He was a member of Taylorville First Presbyterian Church, Mound Lodge 122 AF&AM, Christian County Shrine Club, Ansar Shrine, Springfield Consistory, Scottish Knights and Knights Templar.

He married Ethlyn Rinker March 12, 1935 in Yuma, Ariz.

Surviving are his wife; four granddaughters.

A son preceded him in death.
