MARJORIE W. RODGERS

74, of Springfield died Sunday afternoon, May 23, 1999, in her residence. She was born January 7, 1925, in Hartford, Connecticut, the daughter of Amthor S. and Marjorie (Eastman) Welter. Mrs. Rodgers received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Barnard College in 1946, and attended Covenant Presbyterian Church.

Her survivors include her husband of 53 years, Paul C. Rodgers; five children, Merry Rodgers Wood and her husband, John of Vancouver, British Columbia, Wendy Clark and her husband, Rowland of Shelter Island, New York, Timothy Paul Rodgers and his wife, Kate of Monroe, Connecticut, Rebecca Rodgers Aldinger and her husband, Rolf of Wendlingen, Germany, Ted Rodgers of Springfield, one sister, Isabelle Welter Gage of Taiwan; one brother, Rush Eastman welter of Bennington, Vermont; 12 grandchildren, Jennifer, Jessica, Kate, Peter, Hillary, Sarah, Beth, Ashley, Benjamin, Melissa, Morgan, and Joshua; three great-grandchildren, Emily, Kyle and Aaron; and step-mother, Erica Mather Welter of Damariscotta, Maine.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial gifts may be made to Planned Parenthood, 6 West Main Street, Springfield, Ohio 45502. The family is being served by LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME, SPRINGFIELD.

Emory O. Thornton

DEGRAFF – Emory O. Thornton, 74, 501 N. Cretcher St., Lot 1, died today, July 21, 1994, at 3:52 a.m. in the emergency room at Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine.

He was born April 10, 1920, in Lawrence County, son of Alva and Elsie (Cost) Thornton.

On Dec. 24, 1940, he married the former Carolyn T. Easton. She survives with four children, Mrs. Charles (Rita) Helmandollar of DeGraff, Emerson of Sidney, Gerald “Jerry” of DeGraff, and William of Sidney; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Zella Penley of DeGraff.

Two brothers are deceased.

Mr. Thornton retired from the maintenance department of the Sidney Tanning Co.

Services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home in DeGraff, with Dr. Ralph V. Hudson officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Point Cemetery, Pasco.

Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the Riverside Emergency Medical Services of DeGraff.
