MYERS (Arnette), Jean L.

85, devoted wife and mother, of Springfield, Ohio, died December 15, 2021, in Oakwood Village following a brief illness. She was born January 17, 1936, in Omar, WV, the daughter of Fred Arnette and Ruth (Dudley) Arnette Tinsley. She was a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church, First Baptist Church choir, and the Vintage Voices of United Senior Services. Music, travel and especially animals were among the things she dearly loved. She was retired from Wittenberg University after 20 years of service including serving as the Secretary to the President of Wittenberg University. Jean was also past president and secretary of the Northland Condo Association. Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Charles “Bud” Myers; daughter, Eva Lynn Myers Williams of West Milton, Ohio; sisters Keineth (Terry) Bunish of Phoenix, Arizona, Kathy (Phil) Bullock of Lake Wales, Florida, Nancye Maxwell of Columbus; special cousin, Connie (Bill) Shepherd of Columbus; numerous nieces, nephews and special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and a stillborn daughter. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5-7 p.m. on TUESDAY in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. A Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 am on THURSDAY at Northminster Presbyterian Church with Pastor Dwight McCormick officiating. Interment will be in the Northminster Presbyterian Church Columbarium. Memorial gifts may be made to the Clark County Dog Shelter, 5201 Urbana Rd., Springfield, OH 45502 or to the Northminster Presbyterian Church, 400 Villa Road, Springfield, OH 45503.

WILLIAMS, H. Kirk 58, of Springfield, passed away Wednesday December 4, 2013 in Springfield Regional Medical Center. He was born February 6, 1955 in Springfield, the son of Henry Kirk and Red (Ferguson) Williams. Kirk's passion was reenacting the Revolutionary War Era. He was also a Star Trek Trekkie and was affectionately know as "Captain Kirk". Survivors include four sisters; Sue Marmion, Wilmington, North Carolina, Marcia (Richard) Van Buskirk, Overland Park, Kansas, Jennifer (Dennis) O'Brien, Springfield and Jannette (Charles) Anderson, Hailey, Idaho and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Monday in the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME with Kirk's brother-in-law Denis O'Brien officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the services. Interment services will be held at 2:00PM Monday in the Dayton National Cemetery. Mr. William's family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Essex of Springfield and Springfield Regional Medical Center for all of their devoted care for Kirk.

ARTHUR G. MYERS

Arthur G. Myers, 69, who lived with his son, Roy E. Myers at 419 S. Clairmont av., died at 9:30 p.m. Friday in the residence following an illness of five years.

Mr. Myers was a retired pattern-maker who had lived in Springfield all his life. He was born here on May 29, 1882, the son of Abram and Emma Clippinger Myers. Mr. Myers was a member of the First Lutheran Church.

Survivors include one son, Roy E., and one brother, H. Earl Myers. Mr. Myers’ wife, Fanny, died in March 1947.

The body was taken to the Littleton funeral home.

Herta E. Kreis, 92, passed away May 6, 2016. She was born to Rosa & Wilhelm Binck in Aschaffenburg, Germany. She earned a MA in teaching from Humbolt University in Berlin and met her husband, John C. Kreis, while she was working as a director of a German youth center. She immigrated to the U.S. in 1950. She worked for years in Springfield Ohio as a daycare director for Mercy Hospital and also taught German at Wittenberg College. While there, she was district chairman of Altrusa Club as well as a member of the International Friendship Club. After moving to Cincinnati, she worked first as a supervisor at the YMCA, then as a social service director at Shriner Burns Hospital, and later as a director of social services at Bethesda Hospital. Herta was a creative person, who loved to knit and was talented in art and music. She was a volunteer crafter for Providence Hospital auxiliary for 25 years. Herta was a member of a writers group, the Scandinavian Society, and Cincinnati Woodcarvers. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church for 52 years.

She was preceded in death by John Kreis and is survived by her daughter Gloria Gurdziel, MD, her son-in-law Frank Gurdziel, and two grandchildren, Michael Gurdziel with his spouse Erin and their daughter, Greer and Dr. Katherine Gurdziel with her spouse Dr Jaime Goodrich, and their daughter Marian. Herta also leaves extended family, the Herchers, in Germany.

Visitation will be from 9-10.a.m on May 21st at Faith Lutheran Church 8265 Winton Road, Cincinnati 45231. A service will be held there by Pastor Paul Schultz at 10am. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
