Richard Kreis

Richard Scott Kreis, 68, of Francis, passed away Friday, January 15, 2021 at an Ada hospital.

He was born March 21, 1952 in Springfield, OH to Kohler Martin and Nancy Louise Rockell Kreis. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Dallas, TX. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of New Mexico.

He married Karen Mitchell December 1990 in Bossier City, LA. Mr. Kreis retired from the U. S. Air Force and he had worked as a restaurant and bar manager in the restaurant industry.

Survivors include his wife, Karen, of the home; daughter, Leslie Strange; two sons, Corbin Kreis and William Mitchell; his grandchildren, Tristan Strange, Caleb Strange, Mason Alaee, Kase Alaee, Page Kreis, Evelyn Kreis and Naomi Kreis; a great-grandchild, River Scott Strange; two brothers, Martin Kreis and John Kreis; nieces and nephews; and his poodle, Morning Star Super Nova.

He was preceded in death his parents; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Loy and Arnell Mitchell.

NOTE -- William Eugene Mitchell, born 4 NOV 1979, was not a biological son of Richard Kreis. He was apparently an out-of-wedlock son of Richard's widow, Karen Mitchell. William is found in public address listings at the same Kenny Street and Schex Drive addresses as Richard and Karen. DLB 2024.

Mrs. Eva Dessinger, 50, died at 11:15 p.m. Tuesday at her home, 405 N. Race st. Cancer, from which she had suffered for several months, was the cause of her death.

She leaves her husband, Othello Dessinger of this city, and a sister, Mrs. Ida Kemp of Indianapolis, Ind.

JOHN R. DESSINGER, age 95, of Springfield, passed away on April 9, 2023. He was born in Springfield on June 13, 1927, the son of Raymond and Glenna (Nicklas) Dessinger. John retired from Wright-Patterson AFB in 1982 following 33 years of civilian service. He enjoyed jazz music and attending the Columbus Jazz Arts concerts with his late wife, Betty. He played drums for over 90 years in several different bands, including the Kiwanis Band, The Buddy Young Orchestra, Good Vibes and The Bob Circle Trio. John also performed with Johnny Lytle and was backup for The Platters at the Summer Arts Festival. He served as a volunteer for 10 years alongside his wife at the Clark State Performing Arts Center. John was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan and loved watching games with his granddaughter, who was the light of his life. He was a member of Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church for the last 20 years and was also a member of the Springfield Local #160 Musicians Union where he served as Secretary / Treasurer and most recently Vice President. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Robert Falkner; a granddaughter Stephanie Dessinger-Falkner; sister-in-law, Eva Proctor, many special friends, along with several nieces and nephews. Betty Lucille Dessinger, 94, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Oakwood Village. She was born July 31st, 1927 in Columbus, Ohio the daughter of Delmar and Edna Davis (Perry).

Betty was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Betty volunteered alongside her husband for 10 years at the Clark State Performing Arts Center. She loved music and attending jazz concerts with John in Columbus for many years. Betty most enjoyed spending time with family and friends on vacations and cooking for family gatherings. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother frequently providing care to her family members.

She is survived by her beloved husband John Dessinger whom she married on January 31st, 1951; her daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Robert Falkner; a granddaughter, Stephanie Falkner; a sister, Eva Proctor and several nieces and nephews.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents and her son, Steven Dessinger. A celebration of her life will be on Tuesday, October 5th, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Littleton & Rue Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends on Monday, October 4th from 5-7 at the funeral home.
