Family prayer service will be held 2:15 p.m. Tuesday in the Bailey Church of Christ Fellowship Room followed by the funeral services of 2:30 p.m. in the Church Sanctuary with Mr. Jary Irby and Mr. Manley Pierce officiating. Interment in Seaman Cemetery.

Rufus L. Murray, 78, died Aug. 21 at his Sterling residence. A service was at the Sterling Baptist Church. Rev. Robert Flatt officiated. A visitation was at Peninsula Memorial Chapel. Burial was in Spruce Grove Memorial Park in Kasilof.
Mr. Murray was born Sept. 10, 1914, in Bailey, Michigan. He moved to the Sterling area from Michigan in 1968 and worked as a truck driver for Sealand until retiring in 1977. He was a member of Teamsters Local No. 959 and the Sterling Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and four-wheeling with his family. His family said he was loved by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Virgina, in 1980.
Mr. Murray is survived by his wife, Jane Murray; his sons and daughters- in-law, Lawrence and Glynn, Rufus and Laura, Roger and Linda and John and Hydra, all of Sterling; his daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and George Denison of Sterling, Karen and Randy Berg of Sterling and Bonnie and Steve Hazekamp of Muskeson, Mich.; his step-sons and their wives, Gary and Pam Shears, William and Linda Shears and Brian and Christina, all of Michigan; his step-daughters and their husbands, Joanne and Mitchell Dicherson, Judy and Ronald Brugel and Karen and Gary Edgerle, all of Michigan; his brothers, George, Maurice and Ronald, all of Michigan and Theodore of Mexico; his sister, Ellen Tibbe of Michigan; and 19 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 24 step-grandchildren and 16 step-great-grandchildren.
