Sydney Quin Noel wrote of his uncle, "John Casada Noel became an itinerant artist painting portraits and landscapes. Paintings of Quin and Sarah hang in the home of their son-in-law A.T. Rodgers, Beloit, Kansas. I have a landscape of Stampeding Wild Horses painted in Wyoming or Idaho in the 1880s - it's pretty good. J.C. Noel left home on or about 15 March 1887 from Longmont, CO - wrote to brother, Leonidas, saying he was leaving his family and going to California.
Jean Miller Noel wrote in 1974, she discovered two large old paintings hidden in the darkest corner of those eaves - Sarah and Quin Noel by John.
Joanne (Noel) (Miller) Knowles (Sydney's daughter), Redlands, CA, 3 Aug 1995: "I have the wild horse painting by John Casada Noel, which I treasure. When I worked at the Metropolitan Museum in New York, I had the painting restretched and cleaned in the conservation department. One of the technicians told me it was a 'fine' example of 'Prairie Primitive' painting. That was nearly thirty years ago and the painting looks very good today. My comment is that John C. may have left his wife and 6 (?) daughters but he certainly did not skimp in the quality of canvas and oil paints...."
