Corporal in Company F, 2nd Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry. He was enrolled Sept. 3, 1861 at Zanesville, Ohio in the 191st OVI, Co. D for 3 years. Discharged at Columbus, Ohio Dec. 29, 1862. Returned to service on August 25, 1862 with a notation "detained by sickness and low water". Hospitalized at Parkersburg, West Virginia from mid Oct. 1862 and then next at Camp Chase, Ohio from Dec. 15-29, 1862 while in service. He contracted rheumatism from long exposures to cold weather while in the war. Honorably discharged in Columbus, OH Dec. 29, 1863. Lived in Muskingum County until June 1, 1868, then moved to Caldwell County, MO living there until about March 11, 1885 when he moved into Daviess Co., MO where he remained until his death. Height 5' 8", with fair complexion, dark hair, blue eyes.

Waller and was honorably discharged at Washington, D.C. on May 30, 1865. Personal description for pension was age 54, 5"11" tall, dark complexion, dark brown hair with gray eyes. While on duty in Georgia in 1864, from overexposure, he contracted dropsy, disease of the liver and kidneys. Went out west to Missouri for his health and died. Was brought back to Ohio for burial. He lived in Daviess Co., MO.

FUNERAL OF A. D. RODGERS TO BE HELD IN COLUMBUS
Severe Cold Causes Death of Former Resident and Prominent Columbus Man
Funeral services of Major Andrew Denny Rodgers, prominent retired Columbus business man and former resident of Springfield, who died Tuesday, will be held at his home in East Broad street, Columbus, Thursday afternoon. Burial will be made in Green Lawn cemetery there. He was 85 years old and his death was due to effects of a severe cold.
Major Rodgers was born in Shippensburg, Pa., and after graduating from Jefferson college, he took up the practice of law in Springfield. He represented Clark county in the state assembly, having been elected in 1856. He enlisted in the Union army in 1865 and was appointed paymaster of the army of the south and continued in this capacity until the close of the war.
Major Rodgers was interested in street railway projects in Columbus after the close of the war. He was largely interested in the building of the Long street line and later became president of the Columbus Consolidated Street Railway company.
From 1877 to 1881, he was postmaster at Columbus, having been appointed under the administration of President Hayes. Major Rodgers also served on various state boards.
He was a member of the Loyal Legion, the G. A. R., and was first president of the Columbus club. He was also connected with banking institutions. He was formerly a member of the firm of Rodgers and Rutherford, brokers.
Besides his widow, Mrs. Eliza Sullivant Rodgers, he is survived by four sons and three daughters; William S. S. Rodgers, of San Francisco, Cal.; J. L. Rodgers, American Consul General, at Havana, Cuba; Archibald Rodgers, of Canton; Andrew Denny Rodgers, of Columbus; Mrs. Leigh H. Elliott, of Cleveland; Mrs. Albert J. Dibbles, of Ross Valley, Cal., and Mrs. John H. Roys, of Columbus. He was an uncle of Miss Frances Rodgers, 206 North Limestone street, Springfield, and was a brother of the late Dr. Rodgers, formerly of Springfield.

In 1870 he became interested with others in some large real estate operations and later in street railroads of the city. He became president of several of the original lines and in 1880 upon merger of these lines into one corporation became president of the Columbus Consolidated Street Railway Company. He continued in that position until 1892 when control passed to an eastern syndicate. In 1873 assisted in organization of Citizens Savings Bank and served as trustee and officer. In 1877 was appointed Postmaster of Columbus for 4 years. In 1890 was president of Columbus Board of Trade. In 1876 was trustee of Columbus Hospital for the Insane. Was appointed by the governor to build the addition to the State House.

From the marriage certificate (25 May 1813), written in old French because this area was part of Napoleon's French Empire at that time, we learn that young Christian Adam Munzinger was a "laboreur" and "pircepteur."4
Christian Adam Munzinger died before 19 June 1860 in Russia Twp., Lorain Co., OH, He does not appear in the 1860 census. His wife Eva is found living in the household of son Henry. His grandson James M. Munsinger, born 1857, had a clear recollection of his grandfather's funeral, so it must have occurred shortly before the 1860 census. A grave location has never been found.
Christian Adam Munzinger was also known as Johann Christian Adam Munzinger. He was christened on 12 February 1796 in Evangelische Kirche, Lambsborn, Pfalz (now Rhein-Pfalz), Germany. He immigrated on 5 September 1828 to Port of New York, New York, NY. He lived in 1830 in Wellington Twp., Lorain Co., OH.

The well known pioneer citizen of Mills County, died Saturday night of pneumonia at his home two miles north of Tabor. He leaves a wife and one daughter, a Mrs. J. B. Buchanan of Denver, also a brother Joseph Munsinger, near Tabor. The funeral was held Monday afternoon at Tabor.
Obituary (The Opinion, Glenwood, IA, Thursday, Feb. 9, 1905)
Resident of Tabor, died of pneumonia this past week; funeral held Monday. Came to Tabor from Brownhelm, Lorraine County, Ohio in 1856. Prominent in church and social life as well as in insurance business. Member, Tabor Historical Society. Leaves a wife and 1 daughter, Mrs. Evangel Buchanan of Denver.
He was buried in February 1905 in Tabor Cemetery, Tabor, Mills Co., IA.
Charles Munsinger was also known as "Karl" Munsinger. He was christened on 19 December 1819 in Christened "Karl" at Lambsborn Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lambsborn, Palatinate.

The family story is that he sat at the table for a Sunday dinner, then went back to bed and died.
