Matthew Wade Gupton of Gallatin, TN passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Friday, April 14, 2023. He was 42 years old.

Born in Nashville, TN to Lindy (Wendell) Gupton Reece and the late Gary Benson Gupton, Matt is also preceded in death by his grandparents Lila Wendell, Sue Gupton, Carl Gupton and Janice Wendell.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joanna and daughter Breanna; his mother Lindy Reece (Bo) of Goodlettsville, TN; brother Kelly Gupton (Susan) and their sons Kaleb & Lucas; grandfather Bud Wendell; “Spot” the Beagle & “Toby” the Beaski; uncles Lary Gupton (Luzvimenda), Dan Wendell (Patricia), Andy Wendell; aunts Beth Cosgrove (Dave), Carla Sheets (Mike); mother-in-law Deborah Mock of Waynesville, NC; father-in-law Joe Hampton, Jr. of Nashville, TN; brothers-in-law Jay Hampton (DeAnn) and their children Emma & Charlee Ann of Hendersonville, TN and Bernie Hampton (Jaime) and their children Elijah, Ethan & Elise of Waynesville, NC; Joanna's grandmother, who was very close and dear to him, Vivian Hampton; numerous cousins and their children, as well as, many other beloved extended family and dear friends.

As a teenager, Matt and Joanna had a special friendship, that flourished later in their lives after reuniting. Matt devoted his life to Joanna and Breanna. They became his world and he loved them unconditionally.

A man of many talents and experiences, Matt was caring, compassionate, loyal and loving. His gracious and selfless devotion to his family was unique.

Matt had a strong christian faith and a loving heart like no other. He was a licensed golf instructor and a recent graduate of a commercial driver licensing school.

Matt enjoyed working with his hands and eagerly built a lake house with his dad for a family vacation retreat. He was genuinely caring and an outstanding role model to his young nephews and nieces. He was kind and generous, dedicating a lot of his time and empathy to caring for elder family members in recent years. Matt was a bright, shining personality with a kindness for people. He had many long-lasting friendships and made new friends quickly. His kind, gentle soul will be dearly missed, but his memory will live in our hearts forever.

Visitation for Matt will be held on Tuesday, April 18th, 2023 from 5:00pm ~ 7:00pm at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1150 S. Dickerson Pike Rd., Goodlettsville, TN.

A second visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 19th from 1:00pm ~ 2:30pm with a funeral service officiated by Pastor Danny Spano to begin at 2:30pm, all at Long Hollow Church, 3031 Long Hollow Pike, Hendersonville, TN. Cremation will follow at a later date.

Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Kelly Gupton, Jay Hampton, Bernie Hampton, Kyle Conley, Ryan Coker and Trinity Claud.

Forest Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens are honored to serve the family during this difficult time.

England, Billy Joe “Bill,” 88, retired salesman, died Sept. 17. Services 10 a.m. Monday, Wilmont Place Baptist Church (Vondel L. Smith and Son South, Oklahoma City).

Bill Joe England, a precious father, role model, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away Thursday, September 17, 2015 at the age of 88.

He was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas on January 12, 1927 to Sherman and Beulah (Jones) England. He attended schools in many states, graduating from Central High School in Oklahoma City. While in the Navy, he served as a Radioman on the USS Nevada, USS Pickaway, and USS Indiana. After his return and working for several years, he married his sweetheart, Carol Jean Gordon on March 17, 1950. They were married almost 60 years until Carol’s death.

Bill worked for several years at Wonder Bread and later for Cain’s Coffee for over 20 years until his retirement. Bill made his profession of faith at Wilmont Place and served in many capacities at the church during his lifetime. Besides being a Deacon, he often completed handyman jobs there with his friend, Chuck Johnson. He was a faithful follower of Christ and loved his church family. He will remain in our hearts forever and will be deeply missed.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Carol England; parents, Beulah Jones England and Sherman England; aunt, Ruby Crawford; daughter-in-law, Deanna England; and grandson, Jay Trusley. Bill is survived by daughter, Tricia & husband Mark Meacham; son, Charles England; daughter, Cindy & husband Greg Dean; daughter, Jana & husband Max Burgess; daughter, Marsha & husband Larry Brooks; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be 12-8 p.m. Sunday at Vondel Smith South Western. Services to Celebrate His Life will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 21, 2015, at Wilmont Place Baptist Church, 6440 S. Santa Fe, OKC, with burial following at Heritage Burial Park. Friends may leave condolences for the family at vondelsmithmortuary.com.
