He served as office deputy under Sheriff B. H. Keck and 11 months under the former sheriff P. J. Moos. His health failed him last fall and he resigned about Nov. 1.

He was a member of the Odd Fellows lodge being a past noble grand of Lincoln lodge No. 24; a member of Lincoln lodge No. 914, B.P.O. Elks of which he was a past exalted ruler and a past secretary. Mr. Wendell was a member of Trinity Episcopal church.

He was born Oct. 17, 1877 (sic) in Logan county, a son of William and Henrietta Richards Wendell. His father served one term as sheriff of Logan county. He was married to Lena Meadows in 1906 at Atlanta. The widow and two daughters survive: Mrs. Virginia Johnson of Chicago and Mrs. Bessie Snyder of California, the latter a daughter by a former marriage.

The body was removed to the Sheets funeral home where Coroner E. C. Goff planned to hold the inquest.
