Carey Stroup was born on 25 March 1827 in Hamilton Co. (probably), OH.^1,2 He married Barbara Robb, daughter of Peter Robb and Christena Beckelheimer, on 19 April 1855 in Clermont Co., OH, Three children born to the marriage, two living as of 1900.² Carey Stroup died on 18 May 1910.

He was buried in May 1910 in Lancaster Cemetery, Lancaster, Huntington Co., IN, Findagrave #9906702.
