Obituary -- (Findagrave.com):

"Relatives this week received the information of the death of John S. Craig, a well known resident of this vicinity in early times, on April 5, at his late home in Sisson, Cal. The decedent was the brother of Mrs. Steward Ellison and half-brother of Mrs. D. L. Boyd, a man whom older citizens will remember with esteem. He left here in 1861 or '62 for California, going overland and in the van guard of the emigration to that country. His wife, who died some years since, was also a one time resident of this vicinity, Miss Francis (sic) Burge, daughter of Minor Burge. Mr. Craig is survived by one of his two children, Mrs. Francis Osborne, a son having preceded him to the home beyond. Mrs. Osborne was with her father to care for him during his last illness, and although her home has been in Idaho will remain in California for an indefinite time."
