Goldie Virginia Williams Hughes, age 101, died Sunday May 1, 2011 at the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone, Iowa.
Goldie, a long time Boone resident, was born on September 19, 1909 in Ogden, Iowa to George Wm. Curry Jr. and Laura (Thompson) Curry.
Goldie has been very active in Boone community services especially the Red Cross. She had a passion for gardening, antiquing and quilting. She was an avid horsewoman in her younger years.
Goldie's first husband, Marlowe C. Williams, preceded her in death in 1958. Marlowe Williams had been a prominent attorney in Boone, elected to Boone County attorney in the 1930s and later city attorney along with his private legal practice.
Goldie enjoyed many happy years with her second husband, John M. Hughes, who preceded her in death in 1993.
Also preceding Goldie in death were her parents, seven sisters and her son Jon Anthoney ‘Tony' Williams.
Goldie is survived by her son Larry E. Williams (Lynn), grandsons Todd Williams (Patty) and Troy Williams Linden (Briana) and great grandsons Ben Williams, Chris Williams and Jasper Linden.
She was buried in May 2013 in Linwood Park Cemetery, Boone, Boone Co., IA, Findagrave #84966882.

June C. Cook, age 94, passed away on Friday, November 5, 2010 at the Ogden Manor Nursing Home in Ogden, Iowa.
June was born on June 2, 1916 in Yell Township, Boone County, Iowa, the daughter of George William and Laura Bertha (Thompson) Curry. She attended school in Ogden.
On December 7, 1941, she married Carl Mercer Cook in Chillicothe, Missouri. The couple lived in Des Moines, Iowa. June attended the Four C's Business College for one year. June was a bookkeeper for Lambert Dairy of Des Moines in the 1950's and 60's for 10 years.
June was a member of the United Brethren Church in Des Moines, and was active in the P.T.A. Her hobbies were arts and crafts and she enjoyed embroidery.
June is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl and her 6 sisters.
June is survived by her son, Edward A. Schierholz and his wife Sharon of Leesburg, Florida; 2 grandchildren, Sharon Renee Wilson and husband, Greg of Wilmington, Delaware and Neil Edward Schierholz and partner, Tim Hall of Petaluma, California; her 2 great grandchildren, Emily Renee Wilson and Ryan Gregory Wilson of Wilmington, Delaware; her sister Goldi Hughes of Boone, Iowa and 6 nephews and 1 niece.
Graveside Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, November 15, 2010 in the Glenwood Cemetery in Ogden. Rev. Paul Evans will officiate.
Burial will follow the Graveside Service in the Glenwood Cemetery in Ogden.
