Helen M. (Socks) Freeman, 77, a guest of Quincy United Methodist Home, Quincy, PA, since Feb. 19, 2004, and of 4815 Buchanan Trail East, Zullinger, PA, died at 10:20 a.m. Monday, Feb. 23, 2004, in the nursing home.
Born Aug. 26, 1926, in Waynesboro, PA, she was the daughter of the late Hubert and Carrie M. (Shank) Socks. She was a lifelong resident of the Waynesboro area. Mrs. Freeman was a graduate of Quincy High School, Quincy, Pa., with the Class of 1945. She and her husband, the late Mr. Charles D. "Don" Freeman, were married June 12, 1948. They had lived at their Buchanan Trail East residence since 1956. He died July 28, 1994.
Mrs. Freeman was employed at the Stanley Company, Chambersburg, and for Baer Buses of Waynesboro. She retired in 2001. She was a member of Solomon's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Chambersburg, PA, and the National AARP.
Mrs. Freeman was a devoted mother, grandmother and housewife. She enjoyed collecting key chains. Survived by: daughter, Robin Smithers of Mechanicsburg, PA; son, Randal Freeman of Waynesboro; grandsons, Jason Freeman and Bradley Freeman, both of Waynesboro; sister, Mae Gift of Lemasters, PA; brother, Hubert Socks Jr. of Waynesboro. Preceded in death by a sister, Pearl Baer. Burial in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
