Cora Isadore Wendell
F, #2370, b. 18 August 1874, d. 5 February 1935
Parents
Biography
Cora Isadore Wendell was born on 18 August 1874 in Guernsey Co., OH, other Wendell family information had her birth year as 1876, but both the 1880 and 1900 censuses are consistent with 1874, and her early separation from the family probably explains the discrepancy.
1 She married
Arthur Thomas Wilkins, son of
James B. Wilkin and
Margaret C. Moore, in 1894 in Wood Co., WV, four children born, two living as of the 1910 census.
2 Cora Isadore Wendell died on 5 February 1935 in Blue Island, Cook Co., IL.
She was buried in February 1935 in Mount Greenwood Cemetery, Chicago, Cook Co., IL, Findagrave #193188985.
Note:
From "History of Guernsey County, Vol. I", by Col. Cyrus P. B. Sarchet, B.F. Bowen & Co., 1911:
Page 550: Cora Wendell was taken from the orphans' home, along with seven other children, and raised by Mr. and Mrs. David Linn, until she was of age and married Arthur Wilkins of Whiting, Indiana.
David Linn was born 3 SEP 1841, fifth of nine children of Samuel and Sarah Ann (Stout) Linn. Samuel Linn left his father's home in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, in 1807 at the age of 16 and built a home in Guernsey County.
At the 1880 Federal Census, Cora and all her siblings were in the home of her parents -- apparently the removal was subsequent to that date.
Cora Isadore Wendell lived on 3 May 1910 in 634 New York Avenue, Whiting, Lake Co., IN.
2 She lived on 17 January 1920 in 528 Vermont Street, Blue Island, Cook Co., IL.
