Edwards, March 24. – Elmer Walter Lashua, 80, Edwards R.D., died this morning at the Edward John Noble hospital, Gouveneur, where he had been a patient nine weeks. Mr. Lashua had been in ill health three years.
The funeral will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the Edwards Methodist church with Rev. John Dame, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery. Friends may call at the home of his daughter, Mrs. William (Pauline) Patterson, Edwards.
Mr. Lashua is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mabel Lashua; three sons, Bernist Walter, Star Lake, and Lewis and Edward, Edwards; two daughters, Mrs. Patterson and Mrs. Leo (Beatrice) Lalonde, Ogdensburg, R.D. 1; three sisters, Mrs. Lillian Armstrong and Mrs. Pearl Planty, Parishville, and Mrs. Euphemia Fuller, Edwards; 24 grandchildren and eight grand-children (sic).
He was born, Oct 10, 1881, in Parishville, son of John and Caroline Drake Lashua and attended Parishville schools. He married Miss Mabel Ball, March 2, 1905, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Fuller, Parishville.
The couple moved to Edwards after their marriage where Mr. Lashua was employed 14 years by St. Joseph’s Lead company. He was a farmer after that until poor health forced his retirement three years ago.

STAR LAKE – Bernist Walter Lashua, 72, owner of Lashua’s Bait Shop and Fruit Stand, died Sunday at Clifton-Fine Hospital, where he had been admitted Saturday.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Star Lake Presbyterian Church, Rev. Paul Heller officiating. Burial will be in Oswegatchie Cemetery.
Calling hours are this afternoon and evening and Tuesday afternoon and evening at Mr. Lashua’s home on Route 3. Arrangements are with the French Funeral Home, Edwards.
Mr. Lashua is survived by six sons, Ronald, Elwin and Ricky of Star Lake, Wendell of Dannemora, Leroy of Spencerport and Harl of Cranberry Lake, Elwin, Newton Falls, and Ricky, Star Lake; a daughter, Mrs. Belva Riley of Star Lake; two brothers, Louis of Star Lake and Edward of Edwards; two sisters, Mrs. Pauline Patterson of Heuvelton and Mrs. Beatrid LaLonde of Ogdensburg, and 16 grandchildren.
Born in Parishville May 27, 1906, he was the son of Elmer and Mabel Ball Lashua.
He attended Edwards schools and married Beulah Sawyer Sept. 18, 1937 at the Edwards United Methodist Church.
The couple lived in Star Lake for many years. Mrs. Lashua died May 26, 1978.
Mr. Lashua was a retired bulldozer operator for Jones and Laughlin Steel Corp.
He was a member of the Jones and Laughlin Hunting Club.
He was buried in 1979 in Oswegatchie Cemetery, Fine, St. Lawrence Co., NY, Findagrave #115810841.

EDWARDS – William C. Patterson, 76, Heuvelton, formerly of Edwards and retired St. Joe machine operator, died Wednesday in A. Barton Hepburn Hospital, Ogdensburg.
The funeral will be Friday at 1 p.m. at the French Funeral Home with Rev. Wrightson Tongue, Jr., pastor, Edwards United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

Surviving are his wife, Pauline; a son, Frederick, Antwerp, a daughter, Mrs. Leon (Corleen) Gardner, Heuvelton; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Nora VanWald, Edwards. A daughter, Rita (sic) Prashaw, died in 1961 (sic) and a grandson, Matthew Patterson, died in September, 1981, in an accident.
He wwas born at Alexandria Bay, Aug. 16, 1905, son of Chester and Gertrude Wells Patterson, and attended Edwards schools. He married Pauline Lashua, April 8, 1926.
Mr. Patterson had been employed as a machine operator by St. Joe for 42 years until retiring in 1970. The couple moved to Heuvelton the same year to live near their daughter.
He was buried in January 1982 in Fairview Cemetery, Edwards, St. Lawrence Co., NY, Findagrave #53466141.
