BIOGRAPHY -- From History of Maries County, Missouri, by Everett M. King, page 628:
Daniel Mosher was probably of French descent, or at least of French blood, and the original name was likely 'Mosier; a form sometimes used by the old gentleman himself, but the present generation all spell it Mosher. Daniel's father and uncle, the only ones of the family to come to this country, came from Holland and settled in New York state, where both died of the cholera a few years later. The former had four sons, one of whom went to Iowa, one to Kentucky, one to California, and Daniel to Missouri.
Daniel was a leading early day teacher in the east end of the county, served as County Superintendent arid as Public Administrator, and was otherwise prominent in county affairs.
His first wife was a Davault to whom he was married in Gasconade County. But they soon moved to near Quincy, Illinois, where they spent most of their married life and where his wife died, after which he and their three children returned to this county. The two girls, Polly and another, both married men named Williams. The son, James, married here, but his wife's maiden name is unknown. All moved to Kansas and Colorado a great many years ago and James and Polly are dead, the bodies being returned to this county for burial. The other daughter, Mary, may yet be living in southern Kansas. Nothing is known of the descendants of Polly Williams. James Mosher left four children, Samuel, William, Ina, and another daughter who married Theodore Fritts. All of them live in the west probably in Colorado.
Daniel Mosher's second wife was Anna, daughter of John Allison. She was born November 19, 1820, and died December 15, 1881, survived for several years by her widower and their three children, Jack, Sterling P., and Anna, widow of Jasper Harrison, which see. Jack Mosher [Daniel Jackson], who has been dead many years, first married a Licklider [Jennetta O. "Nettie" Licklider b: 1861], and, second, a Prewett [Hattie Pruitt]. All the children of the first marriage died without issue; of the second, Mary, wife of Joseph Riggins of Aurora, Missouri, is the sole survivor.
Sterling Price Mosher, the remaining child of the second marriage, was born June 13, 1862, and died June 6, 1938. His wife was Louisa Jane, daughter of Louis Hart, who was born in May, 1864, and died February 2, 1930. They were the parents of seven children, of whom Rainey P., connected with the county farm organization, Grover, rural mail carrier out of Safe, Loui T. on the home place, and Agnes, single, live in this county; Clara, wife of Everett Steen, and Anna, wife of John Klossner, in Phelps County; Boley who was born in 1890, died in 1930; married Lois Bullock and is survived by his widow, now Mrs. Gholson, and their two children, Boley Ivan and Verna Lee Mosher, all of Safe.
NOTE: The reference to two daughters, one "Mary" and the other "Polly", are now understood to refer to the same person, Mary Mosher who married Levi P. Brown. The second, and eldest daughter, was Sarah Ellen Mosher who married James N. Williams. DLB 2025.

DEATHS.
Brown. Levi Perry Brown was born March 2, 1844, in Harrison county, Indiana; died March 28, 1916, at St. Francis Hospital, Wichita, Kansas, aged 72 years and 26 days. When his parents moved to Clark county, Missouri, he accompanied them, and on August 31, 1863, he enlisted in Co. M. 9th Regiment, Iowa Cavalry. His army life was spent almost altogether in Arkansas. On December 4, 1870, he was married to Miss Mary Mosher. October 27, 1872, he brought his family to Kansas, first living in Butler county, later moving to Bachelor township, Greenwood county, where he spent the remainder of his life. Mr. Brown was converted when about 17 years of age in a United Brethren church of which he became a member. After the war, living for a time in Clark county, Mo., there being no United Brethren church, he united with the Presbyterian church, then after moving to Kansas he was for a time a member of that was known as Wesley Chapel, Methodist Episcopal church, at Burkton, Kansas, and afterwards living in the neighborhood, he became a member of Little Flock Baptist church, east of Eureka, where he held membership up to the time of death. Two children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Brown, a daughter, Emma Catherine, who died April 21, 1895, and a son, Lewis Henry Brown, now living near Madison, Kansas. Besides the bereaved wife and son, near relatives surviving him are two grandchildren, two brothers and one sister. Mr. Brown was stricken with pneumonia February 11, 1916, from which an accumulation of fluid formed in the lung cavity. He was taken to Wichita where an operation was performed Friday, March 24, from which he rallied nicely but took a turn for the worse Monday and failed rapidly until the end came Tuesday afternoon, March 28, at 2:30 o’clock. Funeral services were held from the Methodist church Thursday afternoon. Interment in Greenwood cemetery.
