EMPORIA -- Wanita M. Werner, 69, Emporia, died Monday, June 7, 1999, at her daughter's home in Emporia.
Mrs. Werner was deputy Lyon County registrar of deeds from 1981 to 1985 and she was Lyon County clerk in 1984 to 1988. She was the chief hearing officer for the Lyon County appraiser in 1989. She had been the receptionist and office manager for the Roberts-Blue- Barnett Funeral Home in Emporia the past 12 years.
She was born July 23, 1929, at Kansas City, Kan., the daughter of C. Arthur and Opal L. Chenoweth Riddle. Mrs. Werner was a member of the First Christian Church, past president of the Social Order of the Beauceant Assembly No. 31 in Emporia, where she was secretary from 1985 to 1998. She was past matron of Miriam Chapter No. 14 of the Order of the Eastern Star, a member of the auxiliary to Ball-McComb Post No. 5 of the American Legion, Emporia Women's Golf Association,and she was a Republican Committee Woman. She married Leonard L. Werner on March 22, 1952, in Emporia. He survives. Other survivors include a son, Thomas A. Werner, Emporia; a daughter, Christy L. Elliott, Emporia; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home in Emporia. Assembly No. 31 of the Social Order of the Beauceant also will conduct services. Burial will be at Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hand in Hand Hospice and sent in care of the funeral home.

Funeral services for Robert Curry Brown, 34, who was drowned near Bridgeport Saturday when his car plunged off the highway into the Walker River, will be conducted at 10 a.m. tomorrow at Wesley Methodist Church in Lawndale. The victim's brother Raymond suffered serious injuries in the 200-foot plunge from Highway 395 at Devil's Gap. Mr Brown, who was an aircraft tool grinder, also leaves his widow, Eugenia; two children, Marilyn, 4, and Robert Jr., 8, and his mother, Mrs. Gussie Brown, all of 4156 W. 165th St., Lawndale. The body was returned here Sunday night to the Hardin & Flanagan mortuary in Inglewood. Burial will be at Roosevelt Memorial Park.

RAYMOND RIDDLE BROWN
Raymond Riddle Brown, 73, a three-year resident of McIntosh and formerly of Sacramento, Calif., passed away July 25 in McIntosh.
He was born Nov. 28, 1929, in Sorrels, N.D., to Robert Earl and Gussie Gurtrud (Curry) Brown.
Raymond is survived by three daughters, Susan Brown of McIntosh, Roberta and husband John Jocby (sic) of Arizona and Constance Brown of California; three sons, Richard R. and wife Pawnee Brown and Roger and wife Mary Brown of California, and Michael Lee and wife Sherry Brown of Nevada; 19 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
A private service will be held at a later date.

Susan was a member of the McIntosh Bible Church, the Road Runner Leather Guild Club, WPRA, and Moriarty Heritage Rodeo Association. She was a 4-H leader for Goats and Rodeo Mom for Moriarty High School Rodeo.
