Ernest E. "Ernie" Landis, 77, of West Lafayette, passed away at his home peacefully on Friday January 31, 2014.

Ernie was born in Canton, Ohio on March 11, 1936 to the late Willard and Goldie (Wendell) Landis.

He was a member of the Newcomerstown Class of 1956

He served in the United States Army from 1954-1958.

Ernie was a truck driver throughout his life, and started his own trucking company in 1976, Landis Trucking.

He was a life member of Newcomerstown Elks Lodge 1555, American Legion and Team Roping Association. Ernie loved spending time with his horses and team roping, avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and loved having his canine companion Sassy by his side.

He is survived by his loving wife Shirley (Shaffer) Landis who he married November 27, 1958, they had just celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary; son Duane (Kristy) Landis of Coshocton; daughter Terri Landis of Groveport; grandson Morgan Landis of West Lafayette; two brothers Paul (Dorothy) Landis of Phoenix, AZ and Wendell (Norma) Landis of Lancaster, SC; several nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his five brothers Willard Jr., Neil, Donald, Loren and Robert Landis; three sisters Mildred Wakley, Dot Kunstmann and Patricia Landis.

A graveside memorial service will be held in West Lawn Cemetery, Newcomerstown on Saturday February 15, 2014 at 3:30 PM with Lloyd Tenney officiating and Newcomerstown Veterans Honor Guard performing military honors.

Betty J. Fowler,

a loving and devoted mother and grandmother went to her home in Heaven on Feb. 16, 2012, at the age of 89 after an extended illness.

She was born in Canton, Ohio on Oct. 4, 1922, the daughter of the late Lelia Mae (Forney) and Raymond E. Wendell. She was a former employee of Timken Mercy Hospital, volunteered at Aultman Hospital and J.R. Coleman Outreach Services and served as a cook for North Canton Meals on Wheels. She was a member of the Louisville Baptist Temple.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Denny M. Fowler; five brothers, Virgil, Wayne, Gene, Dale and Warren Wendell; three sisters, Ruth Samblanet, Gladys Schrack and Shirley Flowers; son-in-law, Lawrence Monroe; and two grandchildren.

Surviving are her 10 children, Kenneth (Sandi) Fowler, Carol Monroe, Maurice (Mary Margaret) Fowler, Marilyn (David) Link, Sandra (Jesse) Oetjen, Donna (Wesley) Crowl, Lois (Brad) Snyder, Duane (Sheryl) Fowler, Raymond Fowler and Jean (Frank) Plues; 29 grandchildren; 42 great- grandchildren, 24 great-great- children; three sisters, Mary Lou Wendell and Barbara (Gordon) Hunt, both of Louisville, Genevieve (Ron) Beabout of Florida; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

It was Betty's wishes, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to North Canton Meals on Wheels or The Louisville Baptist Temple.

The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to ALL the nurses and staff at Green Meadows Health and Wellness Center for the care they have provided to our mother for the past 3-1/2 years. Funeral services will be held Monday, Feb. 20, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the Louisville Baptist Temple. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Susan A. Cline, age 78, of Sherrodsville, Ohio died Wednesday afternoon, May 24, 2017 in the Community Hospice Truman House at New Philadelphia after a lengthy illness.

She was born February 20, 1939 in North Canton, Ohio and was the daughter of the late Ralph and Mary Fawver Wendell. On December 19, 1959 she married Wayne D. Cline, who passed away on March 27, 2008. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister Stella Whipkey and a grandson, Michael Bennington.

She was primarily a housewife and homemaker, but was also the bookkeeper and office manager of the former C.H.C. Express, which was owned and operated by her husband Wayne and Susan. She was an excellent cook and loved to crochet gifts for her family. When she was younger, she was an excellent bowler. Susan's primary focus was her family. She cherished activities with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her five children Lyle V. Cline of Waynesburg, O., Bruce (Jill) Cline of Sherrodsville, Theresa L. Bennington of Dennison, O., Mrs. Cristinia (Paul) Westlake of New Philadelphia, and Tim Cline of Midvale, O., two sisters Sally Schissler and Sandy Radcliff, both of Carrollton, O., a brother, Stanley (Betty) Wendell of Carrollton, her mother-in-law Helen L. Cline of Carrollton, her eight grandchildren Craig Cline and Mrs. Jessica (Jason) Abel, both of Sherrodsville, Philip Bennington of Akron, O., Mrs. Cassie (Tom) Grewell of Sherrodsville, Jerod (Kristina) Boone of Minerva, O., Amanda (Michelle) Householder of Nashville, Tennessee, and Alishia Cline and Erin Cline, both of Midvale, and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 30, 2017 in the Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville with Rev. Jerralyn Myers officiating. Interment will follow in the Sherrodsville Memorial Gardens. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 11:00 A.M. until time of services at 2:00 P.M. in the funeral home. The family would like to express their grateful appreciation to the staff of the Community Hospice House for their extraordinary care and compassion during Susan's stay.
